Tyres for No Limits Racing - Endurance Race

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by comesunt, Dec 30, 2013.

  1. Pretty close to entering a team for the 6 Hour No Limits Endurance race at Donnington in May 2014.

4 riders on two bikes... One will be a fireblade; the other will either be a 748 or an 848...

We need to run either Pirelli or Metzeler tyres. We'll have dry tyres and full wets but no slicks (not allowed in the newcomer class)

    What tyres would anyone recommend??

    Many thanks,

    Bob

  2. supercorsa sc2's

  3. What he said.

  4. We ran racetecs soft fronts and medium rears for endurance, you haven't got much choice it's that or supercorsas.

  5. Are d211's allowed? They wear pretty well.

  6. Supercorsa V2. I got 1800 road miles, 7 sessions at Brands, and then 2 full open pit days at Albacete before the grip started to fade.

  7. Blimey thats some going! I got 1200 road miles or 3 trackdays and mine were fecked!

  8. i think it's the TC taking care of them.

  9. Thread drift...funny thing is, on the road i would wear the front out first, as would all the other 848 riding mates

  10. All, Many thanks for advice...

    Couchy,

Did you run the 3 or 6 hour race? Nor sure if we'll run one bike or two now ( think I may have miss-read the rules) so we may want to do 6 hours on one bike... Hopefully keep the front for the whole race and just swap the back; but only if we need to...??

I think that I may have ran race techs (K3?) on the 748 at Portimao, but that was a few year ago... I recall they were ok after the last day, but I was riding pretty slow then..

the 848 may have come with supercorsas fitted, but I got a rear puncture before I'd run it in, and swapped them for some scrubs, so no experience there really

I don't think d211 will be allowed... besides, I killed a set of those at Valancia with NL this year, and I missed out a few sessions, so I'd be suprprised if we get 6 hours out of them...

Pse excuse ignorance, but do corsas come with different compound options?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  11. Yeah, thanks for that...

No mention of tyre compound options on that link..

  12. Perhaps you have to look for the technical info section.. How many hours will you be in the saddle for?DIABLO SUPERCORSA SC , Motorcycle Tyres - Car Tyres, Motorcycle Tyres, Truck Tyres, Motorsport tyres - PIRELLI INTERNATIONAL

  13. Thanks...

Checked the rules with NL today, and we can run 4 riders on two bikes, so it looks like we'll run each bike for three hours...

Hopefully do that on one set of tyres for each bike, but have spares and wets to hand...

Guessing we'll run 20-30 minutes slots per rider...

    Cheers,

    Bob

  14. Dont they normally max 30 mins then compulsory to switch

  15. At 50 mph they should last the whole 6 hours on one set. Hare and the tortoise !

  16. Pirellie Super corsa sc1/sc2 comebo or metzeler racetec interact k1/k2 combo.

I prefer the front end feeling of the pirelli but this is my choice.

  17. We ran the racetecs for 3 half hour sessions from new on each bike, we the used them for the next meetings practice day as well and they were fine, probably good enough for one more day too.

You need treated tyres as if it rains you have to stay out, if you come in time restrictions may stop you changing rider or bike so you have to change wheels and go back out again, this wastes loads of time so it's usually better to stay out and slow down and hot race tyres give some grip in the wet, if it's pouring down you have no choice.

make sure you have a good team especially a time keeper, we had both and that's what gets you good results, most of our team probably post on here and could tell you a bit about tactics and timing :)

  18. As I'm planning on having a crack at endurance this year too, thanks for the info couchy. I know talking to Tim, he said having the team was more important as its stuff like timekeeping, changing transponders etc that is actually the tough bit and costs time and results

  19. Exactly bradders the team is everything, all we did was ride and be pampered ! We had loads of awesome help
