I've used the redirection service before, but I wasn't moving house, it was a second house that we owned and nothing else was listed at the address. I've received the appeal paperwork, it's a preprinted form which doesn't give you much room to put you information down. Luckily I've now found the scan of the logbook that I took prior to posting, so at least I've got a bit more to send back. Peter, I'll give you a call later.
I always send anything to DVLA by recorded delivery nowadays. But most cases are thrown out . Go to PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice for advice
Had a similar thing happen to me back in 2006 when I sold the wife's car to a work colleague. I received a letter stating that someone had applied for a log book for the car and had I sold it there was no need to reply, so I didn't, and then received a fine through the post the following week. I have always since taken it into the DVLA as its near where live and got a receipt. Based on the licensing issue a few years back, it would still not surprise me if they lost it.
Peter has helped put down the facts in a way far better than my schooling would've, but then that's an Oxford education for you! I'll let you know how I get on, but I'm feeling more confident.
"Please be aware that such a lenient view may not be taken if a breach of legislation be identified in future" What an arrogant twat.
my Tric has got 5 months tax on that i'd like to redeem.. i went online and it said i had to pay a £35 admin fee!!! The fkn tax was only about £40!!! Who is the thief here?? Ride SORN mate...
quite.... my aunts local priest was called Keith Fiddler...how opt was that..i think we've the makings of a fine thread hijack here.
I pay my road tax and ride all year around so have no need for sorn. I watch my TV all year as well so I have a licence for that too ;-)
Check you were on the proper .gov website, There's a company that comes up on google, top search that looks official and charges silly money for doing sorn etc.
Apparently we have had another letter through the post today, a vehicle I sold in July 2013, and sent the log book off for, for which the tax expired in October 2013, so we had a letter asking us if we had sold the vehicle or not as someone was asking for a V5c, we have to pay a £55 fine for not informing the DVLA that we sold it. Although we did. This is like vehicle number 5 now that I have had a letter about and I always post off the V5 when I buy or sell because they keep sending me letters. AAAAAAARGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!
Let me know if you want a copy of the letter I sent to tweak, it was written by someone with a fair bit of experience in legal circles
Thanks, but it's too late. I just gave my misses the money to pay the fine. She has an 8 week old baby and a 3 year old to take care of, she doesn't need letters from the DVLA that I can't sort out because I'm not at home. I hate these fucking bastards. It's not like it's a one off. Every bloody time.
Funny that these people don't receive V5 documents in the post. I bet the fines arrive OK though. F**kers
