Bonjour !

  1. It is completely absurd that France should have a bizarre law about 100 bhp bikes when no one else in the EU does. Suddenly EU harmonisation seems to be a thing that they can take or leave.

  2. Yes it is silly.

There is talk of ending though, read somewhere 2015 / 2016 but as they are obsessed with reducing the number of deaths on the roads I think they will resist.

  3. I'd love to see the statistics that prove that bikes over 100 bhp cause more deaths proportionally than those under 100 bhp. Doesn't look as if anyone else had found it.

  4. definately the people

you just cant trust those french f***kers.

    I mean come on.....

just about every insurance company in the uk won't insure you to drive in paris town centre.
now is that the vehicles or the people !

  5. @ Gregory: Cahors is around 1.30hr from me not to far. I haven't done ay track days as yet, but hopefully planning too, there is a track about an hour from me, I forget the name. There is a few of us heading to Aragon this year, my French mates ex-girlfriend works there and gets us all the pass's every year, glad they split up on good terms! :upyeah:, tag along if you like more the merrier?

Ive vey heard that French maybe getting rid of the 100bhp law the end of the year, but they have been saying for the past 2 yrs, so who knows, the French do what they want when they want...

  6. Maybe the track near you is Haut Saintonge? if so its a really nice little track and I will surely ride again there this year. Its perfect for the little Aprilia RS250...... Also there is Val de Vienne not far from you, also a really nice track and faster.
Both would be perfect for a 748RS 'replica'

I am going down to Aragon 1st to 3rd May as a few of us are riding with No Limits there for 3 days of biking bliss (hopefully...). Is about 8 hours drive from Cahors.

For many years we rode over the Pyrenees to Barcelona for the GP. Still lots of guys go from Cahors every year but I don't get the time to go so easy and I am getting older it takes me a week to get over the drinking binge :frown:

Apart from my old RD350LC, I don't have any more road bikes.

  7. Early standard 749 would be worth considering, they are within budget, under valued, underrated and more importantly under 100 bhp.

Over here the very best low mileage examples can be had for around £4000

  8. I think Val de Vienne is the nicest track I've done for some reason. It's quite bucolic and although it has challenges, there isn't anything really nasty and the double right, where you hit the first, drift out to the edge of the track before swooping into the second and then nailing it on the way out is great fun!
