Ever since i was a youngster i really want to have a bike, first it was R1 but when i see a DUCATI man i said to my self i will have that bike. So been looking around to find a bike and i see a good offer for Ducati 1198SP with 27xx miles on it(never been track) for $19,000 with freebies and upgrade. My hearts yelling to get the DUCATI but still thinking of HP4. So what do you think guys? I hope you have life insurance Genesis. Most people hop onto less extreme bikes to learn on. Both of these bikes are very unforgiving for novices. Not to mention expensive to repair once you drop it and you will as a novice drop it at some point. Probably. I would advise against this and buy a 600 for a yr or two. That said the 1198 is well specced and I'd buy that in a heartbeat over the HP4. However the HP4 may be easier to live with daily. Best get your will in order. Good luck.
Personally I think you're bonkers. If you want to kill yourself, an 1198S would be a good place to start as a first bike. If you've not had a bike before, you have no clue how fast these things are. Learn on something a bit more manageable for a couple of years. You really don't want to just jump in with that amount of power and torque. I don't want to sound patronising, but everyone has to learn and it takes a little time.
Lovely spec on the 1198s and lots of extras but no fun with mods then. Not to be too boring and agree with the others but these are mental bikes for a first bike. Worst case scenario get an 899 and ride it in the wet mode for the first few months............
I am riding bikes for 30 years and my 1098s still scares the shit out of me at times lol, I would take on board the advice in above posts and Join the Ducati brigage on 899 or 749.. Best of luck on whatever you buy
Buy it , just remember your brain controls your right wrist , if you can resist pulling your cock you can resist pulling the throttle.
