Hi folks could someone please give me the correct info re removing the parking light from my 2006 999's windscreen my mechanic is telling me it will fail MOT but others are saying if it's totally removed it will pass ok?
Mine also has been removed, I removed it on my old 749s and now on my 999s and never had any problems. I even bought a Ducati 999 performance screen from Italy it's the same as standard screen but with no light cut-out. The only reason I had to get it from Italy was the UK dealers said it was no longer made, although I never fitted it it's now in the attic still in the box as it looks just as good when you remove the light to just put a small Ducati sticker over the hole .
It's not needed to pass the MOT A motor bicycle (with or without a side car) fitted with a headlamp need not have a front position lamp (but must have one on the side car, if a side car is fitted).
Hi, technically your bike should not pass MOT with a Termi system as it's too loud the trick is to go to the right place. just call the MOT place before going for your MOT and tell them any mods you have and ask if that's ok. For the pipe they just asked that i bring my original pipe and put an advisory on my MOT 'loud pipe'. If you change the windshield and the light is not there, they will not even know it was there in the first place, so dont worry about this. It will not be an issue.
They use a db measurement there is a certain legal limit. Same goes for track days, there is a track allowed sound output limit which is checked.
I've never ever seen a db meter at any mot station. What's the legal limit? I take it the meter has to be calibrated every so often, I wonder how that's done?
Have a full termi system on my 749 and no probs with MOT iro noise. In fact, is it just me, but I think the termi full system on the 749 for sure and poss the 999 is too damn quiet!!?? When riding it, it makes a nice sound (still not sure if I'd call it really loud), but with the deep air intake rush (sounds great) being the sound that's more noticeable to the rider? At tick over deffo doesn't sound loud. Parking light removal = no issue. As had been said, the garage won't even know. Mines now gone - will post up some pics when get a chance of new db screen, satin black headlamp bucket and rear sets. Mostly bling, but not too on your face IMO.
Perhaps just me - really doesn't sound too loud to me. Almost silent compared to my SP2 with blue flame slip ons
I this day and age anyone can have a db meter . Theres an app . I have one on my phone . Dont think it would stand up in a court though .
I like the parking light in the screen. Stick a nice bright led in there and you've got yourself a high viz running light for extra road presence and you can't have too much of that...
My god. Now I feel normal again. I thought I was the only one in the world who actually liked this light. Why does everyone want to remove it? I don't see what's wrong with it being there. Mine staying put and I'm putting a sticker next to it which will say "Do not remove"
