Santa got my letter so I've a set of new driver foot pegs, have had a look and it seems to be just a case of removing the c clip, pin and spring. Is it as simple as that or is there a gotcha waiting to project itself into the air as I remove the peg?
it is that simple, however, be very wary of the c clip. They are soft metal and do not spring back to the original shape. I know this by experience. Safer to get new replacements in my mind. Your dealer should not charge you for those.
It's one of the more simple jobs. Only took me about 10 minutes and I'm not at all mechanically minded. As Bob said watch you don't mangle the C clip. I just reused the old ones but did have to nip them back up into shape. I went for the M-Factory rotating pegs as I'm a lanky git. Much better grip than the OEM pegs. The adjustable positioning made it more comfortable but being 6ft4 still couldn't get comfy on them. I've since removed them (unfortunately and at much expense!!) and put full adjustable rearsets on my bike but I'd definitely recommend swapping the OEM pegs for some more grippy ones.
I've got the clips off and knocked the pin through to the point they are going to release the springs, just concerned about refitting the springs as it looks like there under a fair bit of tension?
Use a punch or even a screw driver, put it through all the holes to line everything up then then tap the pin back in with a small hammer. As the pin goes back in through the holes it will push the punch/screwdriver out.
Got my Oberon Titanuim pegs yesterday. Lovely and made in England. Chinese stuff is only £2 less. Proud to fly the UK flag. Credit to a Bristish company. They can compete on price and turned up in 2 days.
Sound good, do you have any pictures of the pegs installed please? I can't decide between Oberon or Rizoma. I've had both brands previously and think they are of equal quality. I had Oberon clutch slave on a 1098s- very nice indeed. Thanks.
Not fitted em yet but will post up when done. Not quite sure how to get those spring washers off without bending them
Went to fit my Oberon pegs today. No go, the carrier is 2mm to wide. Won't fit. And it's dry enough to take the bike out this weekend. Bugger! Were your OK Ronin? I guess so.
Yes all fine, I bought the race pegs in silver for an 1199 panigale, perfect fit. Did you get the race or touring?
Race pegs same as you. Seems I've been unlucky. Emailed Oberon. Waiting for a reply. I guess it's will be Monday before I hear anything. Ive got #55 stamped on mine. Anything on yours? washer was trashed when I gently eased it off the pivot pin. Did you fit new ones?
I can't see now it's fitted, sorry fella. I can't remember seeing anything stamped on them when I fitted them.
