  1. Happy Birthday, sorry we missed it, but it looked like you didn't want to be celebrating it. Hope it was a good one.

  2. Made a new frame jig.

  3. Nice Sam!
Just.tanken the tank and subframe off in preparation for sending the zorst to Mark Hill for packing and db killers

  4. Just had a nice day in Rimini, very hot, checked busses for WDW tomorrow.

  5. Rode the Mutley from Lucca to San Marino across the back twisties today, checked into hotel, ready for WDW tomorrow. Bike faultless. Weather scorchio.

  6. Had yet another 4 wheeled disaster........

Can I really be this unlucky.......after having a new egr valve and new turbo fitted to my Jag in January, I decided enough was enough and we parted company.....

Enter the seven seat grand picasso, with all the bells and whistles, 4 and a half months later, 3000 miles and believe it or not a speeding fine/awareness course.......its thrown it's poxy little turbo out of its pram, with a known issue.

Before you judge, and say thats what I get for buying a citroen......the engine is made by Peugeot with a garett turbo and the same unit is found in the 1.6 ford focus, numerous peugeots and the BMW mini, to name a few from the top of my head. Be aware of the turbo oil starvation issue, even if you have a full service history as I had.

Bought from a citroen dealer but not covered by the enhanced citroen uk used car warranty, but Evans Halshaw's own three month warranty, guess there goes my ohlin forks or bst wheels then :frown:

  7. Know it's no help now, but, that engine has a terrible history for Turbo failure.

It is a common engine used in may cars as you say, 1.6 TDI, fitted in Fords, Pug, Citroen, Mini etc etc

Even with full service history, and proper oil used, there is a massive turbo failure.

I've seen the service bulletins from Ford with pics of the engine and turbo etc. The engine suffers from the old "oil black death" even though the correct oil is used. The engine builds up black sludge and starves the turbo of oil.

Most after market turbo manufacturers, and factors, will no longer give warranty on any turbos sold for this engine. Very common to just fit the turbo and an oil service. Then turbo blows again within a few 1,000's mile, due to oil feed pipe being blocked.

Even swapping the oil feed pipe does not help, as the whole engine is sludged up by this point.

I was talking to one of my customers, one of UK's largest motor factors, about buying a new ish Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI. He showed me all the service bulletins and information he had from Ford, turbo suppliers etc talking about the black sludge problem.

    Would not touch one now.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

  8. Not a problem at all m8,

That's the same story as I've now learned, that the industry as a whole knows but don't really want joe public to find out about as it affects several manufacturers models.

There is actually a modification, again a bit of a secret to the banjo bolt that secures the oil feed pipe to the turbo.....it's had the gause filter removed now, so instead of three filters....the one in the oil pick up in the sump, the one in the oil feed pipe and the banjo one they only fit two.
The theory being contaminated oil is better being fed than no oil????

    Hey ho!

  9. Sh1t - sorry to hear that mate :frown: At least the two wheels are still reliable...:upyeah:

  10.
  11. Now your really trying to cheer me up

  12. I have been back to physio again!!! today referred by consultant after second injection in shoulder.
Looks like my neck is part of the problem so that's being worked on
My god it hurts too being pulled around
But hope that takes some of the pain away 
Looks like I had a fracture of my collar bone on the dislocated side as it now has a dip in it aswell

Other than that uneventful except guess what......

    It's raining 

  13. Just put my house on the market tody ...... Asking price is £14k below what I paid 6 years ago, and know I'll have to take less than asking price, guessing I'll take about a £20k hit in total :frown:

But, on the up side, I guess the house I'm hoping to buy has also dropped a similar amount.

All a bit scary, I've managed to reach 45 and never actually sold a house via an estate agent. Normally just give them away to my Ex's.

  14. Jag to Citroën Picasso? Isn't that a bit like swapping a Speed Triple for Varadero?

    Quite apart from a reliability thing - it's a style problem!

  15. Rode my Super Tenere to Morcambe from Gateshead to watch step daughter carry the Olympic Torch! Weather was biblical and everyone got soaked but it was amazing chasing the bairn as she carried the torch. Hope the pics and vids turn out ok (missus has the cameras in the car, as they'd have water logged with me on the ride back).

  16. Nah the Jag was an estate work horse not a fashion statement, nor a measure of manhood, the same as the seven seater Picasso is or was......

Anyway today I waited with baited breath for my phone call from Evans Halshaw the Citroen Dealer......guess what? Yeah I'm still waiting!
