A chap who made contact with me from Alaska last year, while I was doing up my 900ss, and who had also just completed a similar build just sent me the below link and photos, I figured I should share, its the right thing to do...right? 10.25.10 | Facebook
Be interested to see what it looks like when bodywork and seat etc all in place, not sure about he twin outlets but may work with height seat unit
If you want to see it done properly, see if you can find some images of Ghost's race bike zorst..... Go on Phil...show them how it should look. AL
Looks incredibly neat, and some of the changes online all round, radial calipers, relocated ignition switch? Not sure tho, the 2 out pipes look a little unfinished. Clearly loads of time effort and planning gone into it
I like that look, but what sort of heat shield would be needed to save the plastic under seat from melting on a regular basis?? i remember seeing one on the old ducatisti site with under seat exhausts and that looked great
I wonder how he gets at the baffles or repacks the box....... ...and unless he has 'through' pipes inside the box, then the gases won't escape easily.....
I would not think they are packed Al....it all seems very tightly welded up. I would agree with Bradders the outpipes look a little short.
If there isn't any packing in the box, then there isn't any point in being there, really........I wouldn't think a Ducati would like back pressure much either. As I mentioned earlier, hopefully Ghost will stick up some pics of his zorst. AL.
Fair point..in fact points...maybe it is packed...and he has to get out his brazing torch to re-do the packing...or he has packed it for life. Who knows...shall I ask him?
Well.....Yes it is different....because if he has pipes that go straight through, then the box isn't necessary......or if they do not go straight through, then he has created an expansion chamber (not necessary on a Ducati or any four stroke really) and doesn't allow a smooth passage of the gases to escape. My cans are the normal shape and size.....the pipe goes straight through but is perforated where inside the can. The packing simply fills the space between the perforated pipe and the can walls....no baffles either in the pipe or in the can.... But they aren't that loud at all and wouldn't attract the attention of Plod or be turned down by the scrutes at the track. The only reason his box could be of any use is to have similar internal construction to what I describe above, but too small to be effective enough by UK standards at least. AL
I'm sorry, but if I had made that, I wouldn't want pictures of it on a forum. Yes he has put some work into it with segmented bends etc, but its not aesthetically pleasing.
Just looked everywhere and I don't have any last years bike has a new owner, so when I'm back home this coming week I'll take some of the current system on the class A bike.
Didn't you have some on your phone? Remember when I asked you how the hell both headers were the same length? AL.
Found this one on Ducati MS, looks much better made, butnot sure about the rear of the bike? Custom undertail exhaust? Who makes one? - Ducati.ms - TheUltimate Ducati Forum I have seen a couple on various forums, and considered having a go myself, buti think the whole bike just looks better with high level SL type pipes.
No I can't but a neighbour has 2 welders and can use them My Neighbour has 2 gas and electric I can ask him if i can borrow either if you like?
