See if you can't start an internet biz of some sort: No localisation problems, no premises required. Work from home, staffing levels minimal (at least to begin with). Customers all over the world, proven advertising methods.
So what is the real issue here that is causing you stress? From what you have already written, in it's simplest form, you have too much work to do. How can you solve that problem? There is always a solution, you just have to work out what the problem is first.
I havent done a lab for a few years. Been offices generally. But the relevant guidelines would just need a looksee. At the end of the day its just a room, some air and a psychrometric process. Oh and filtration. Its the fucking around with contractors i despise. You have to have weasel clauses on your weasel clauses in your specs. Plus a client who doesnt know his/her own brief and wants it for nothing. Our industry sucks, doesnt it?
Too much work to little time and a must do approach (not can do). All adds up to a fucking nightmare. And I do say NO to schedules and plans then some other fucker higher up the food chain counters me.
Sucks to a great degree, subbies who work for the client more and continue to answer directly to the client, not me. Clients who expect the earth with a blow job on the way. And Senoir PM's who have promised the earth and the blowjobs have a financial interest in delivering at all costs..............
So two issues: Work > Time And Promises being made to the customer by someone else which you cannot keep. I think the Work > Time problem could possibly be solved by tackling the second problem. Is it the same person that counters you each time? Is there any way you can change this power balance? Perhaps they do not understand the processes you must follow in order to deliver a result and as such this person may not attribute enough weight to tasks agreed. Maybe you can explain?
I know EXACTLY where you are coming from Cranks. Subbies who agree things direct with the client and no-one tells you, the consultant. Then when you break the bad news to the client that what theyve agreed breaches either regulations or will require a significant redesign and they wont pay for it and theres guys on site waiting for information. Or plant reselections and theyre lead ins. Clients who wont do whats needed and only part do a job and when its shit and you explain you told em so, still dont get it. Thers no point replacing a fucking chiller when you havent repaired the bloody FCU's, their controls and fixed the chw pipework. Thus you cant commission the chiller and everything is your fault. I shouldve stuck to CAD. I'm only happy when I am doing the model and running the sims in IES. You can keep the rest.
Theyre technicians Troy. If you have a degree and/or are chartered as I am in Engineering then youre an engineer. Other than that you are a technician. hehe
You'd have to seriously freeze the jelly and I dont mean when it sets. (as long as we are not talking safety matches).
OK so I have two weeks left before redundancy and I'm out of here after 10 years in the business - still have a 12 month no compete but tbh I want a change Haven't slept so well in ages No job yet - just looking at some that involve shift work - hummmmm
As bootsam said, you'd have to cool the jelly to the point where it goes hard then rough up the top surface, then strike. Easy However I'm sure there are plenty of things around you other than the jelly in your jelly/match situation that you could use.
Yeah, set the jelly with the matchbox in it with only the stike protruding. This is too easy. Becoming a grandad has made you soft. Youve changed.
My wheels fell off big time 3 or 4 years ago. There are some wise words on this thread, but an encouraging indicator is that you recognise and acknowledge the situation you are in. The worst thing you can do now is let it fester any longer. If you approach your GP, they may refer you to a therapist. They will be able to help. You also need to talk to someone at work, whether in your own line management, HR or occupational health. No one at a senior level in a company will want it to fail, and the people who contribute to the success of the business are key. They should want to help you, if not, you need to find somewhere else. The money is not as important as your health. If you want to PM me feel free, if not, good luck, I know what you are going through, don't let it get any worse, it can take a very long time to recover.
