2500 miles, 4 months old, and needs to be lubed as it its 2 yrs old and 10k of hard miles? Yep its my fault. I dont know how I've lasted this long without these basic biking pearls, or have I have managed to own and keep running over 30 bikes in the last 30 years. I have owned bikes for over 30 years, and I pretty much know how to maintain them! After every ride I lube everything and spray silicone on all switches to protect and lube them it's also good for the plastics, for the last 15 years every bike I have owned has been brand new, so I know it's life! When you say surely this is general maintainence....er no it's shit switch gear that's probably not been sealed well, having the heated grips not work, the starter button stuck also means I can't change the suspension or riding modes or anything else on the clocks as the button controls the heated grips which are stuck to max. I have only done a few hundred miles on the bike and it's been back up to riders 3 x, which is a pain in the arse because I have to ride it up there which is an hour each way Sounds like you two need to book a room together and get it out of your system! It also sounds that you've been very unlucky. I've owned 3 now and haven't had a problem with any of them. Genuinely sorry for you both. Hope you get them sorted so you can have a good season problem free.
I have never had the regime you have, yet not had similar issues either. Now call me dim but if the only variable is the bike.... I have bikes to ride them. Not clean and polish them. Cant think of anything worse bike related. And i bought new bike so it would need less maintenance, not more. Thunk the bike is great and exactly what i bought, they are only niggles and nothing that will stop me riding.
No mate, you can do what f****k you want. Just saying that I do. If you wash it do you dry it off. I presume if you have an ounce of sense the answer would be yes. But you can hardly towel down inside the switch gear can you. If you accept that moisture will get in then you have to accept that it might be a good idea to get it out. But then again it cost a fortune so I shouldn't have to do this tedious shite should I.
It's booked in to go back and have the work done along with the recall for lengthening the rear sensor, I have only used the bike once in wet weather, I haven't needed to wash any of the controls to date so it must have been that rain that got inside. Think I might take them to bits when I get the bike back and do as BOOMER has done. obviously ducati don't like testing in the wet!
(Ojobear) Chill. I've got this issue on a brand new hypermotard. It has the same switchgear as the mutley, which is why I've posted here. I guess it's possible that water has got in, but on my bike, the button isn't stuck in as some of the guys here have reported, rather the contact is constantly closed, causing the motor to spin as soon as the ignition is live. To me, its an issue that is nothing to do with maintenance or lack of. Myself and a couple of other guys here successfully maintain to some extent, bikes that are a lot more complex than these. Your comments could be read in many ways. Patronising might be one of those ways.
Many apologies regarding this topic. I don't have the problem so I should have watched with interest as with everything on here and kept quiet. As I said earlier, hope you all get these niggles sorted ASAP and can enjoy a great summers riding.
Thanks for posting this boomer. I know this was slightly off topic, but Im glad you posted the link about pet dryer. I was just about to buy the Atom Blaster, which to me looks identical but £140!. Cheers!
just bought it! Only two left. Thanks again. Im new to this forum having just come from a Diavel. seems quite friendly compared to the Diavel one lol
I've been looking at getting these... The pet one, the fpm is actually higher than the blaster! So in a sense it's actually better. With different nozzles. Think I will purchase one on Friday. Just bought an air compressor... Meant to be saving for my house deposit so the misses can't know I'm buying goodies!
Send it to work address, I did! Lol sneaky, but no different to seeing wife with new cloths that she says shes had months!
I had this problem.... I fixed it..... I got a GS1200....lol Sorry but I was told they are a know problem. Mine kept doing at and at one point. I thought it was gonna catch fire as the starter ran and ran!
whats up, is the gs1200 forum closed today?. It's been a while since we've enjoyed you on here, or are you thinking of getting a Ducati.....http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/mts1200-end-18815/
No old bean she open. You will be pleased to know I have a collection of Ducati's so not rid of me at all ha ha.
Had the switch problem from new on my gt took it back they tried to fix in the end had a new one fitted under warranty no problem since.
I know we are talkiing about new bikes with sticking buttons but i fitted new clipons on my MV and the starter button stuck on. Ended up I had tightened the two clamp bolts too much. Cracked them looseit was only a fraction but it loosened it. Could be they were over tightened at the factory when it was built. Then again I could be talking bollocks and you lazy sods haven't maintained them
