First up please tell me if I'm stepping on anyone's toes by suggesting this or if it's been tried before and didn't work for whatever reason? Hopefully in 2-3 months time we should have some dryer warmer weather and it would be good to meet up with a few fellow Ducati owners. There's only so long you can tag along with the jap boys eh!? I live in Derby but by no means does that mean I want to start the meet in Derby because that would be unfair to others and wouldn't be much of a ride out for me either. Looking at the map somewhere between Derby and Leicester may work but I'm open to any suggestions for locations. Maybe bi- weekly in summer or first Sunday of every month? Let me know you're thoughts. Cheers Haydn
Melton Mowbray? Gives you the minimum recommended 30 mile warm-up ride from Derby and makes it worth getting the bike out. Entertaining roads from most directions. Not sure if there is a decent place to meet, but I know a man who does and he may be along shortly. Living in the MM area it wouldn't be much of a ride for him though. Sunday Mornings I am usually on 2 wheels, off-road, with 1 donkey power, so I would be an occasional visitor rather than a regular.
I'm up for a regular meet but MM is a bit out of my way for an evening meet but could make it on the odd weekend. A bit further north would help. I'm based in Bakewell. Steve
Plenty of nice roads around the Vale of Belvoir. Rempstone/Wymeswold to Melton Mowbray is ok, so is Melton to Market Harborough. Good run from Linby/Ravenshead to Southwell in Nottinghamshire too. What do you ride Haydn? I'm on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border, happy to meet up sometime if you don't mind bimbling along with an old fart.
The Derbyshire Dales is also an obvious choice. I use what seems to be a less popular route to the Matlock area, via Wessington & Tansley. Can only do weekends, but happy to meet up for a leisurely ride & a brew.
Sounds good. Am in Loughborough and have a mate near MM with an SC so hopefully be able to drag him along as well.
I'm in stoke, nice to hear there's a few locals about, seems a lot of you guys are down sarf, look forward to meeting up if poss:smile:
I'd be up for a Derbyshire Dales meet, go up to Ashbourne occasionally, must be good roads up that way. There's a few on here from Tamworth, Burton, Walsall so hopefully get a good crowd. Be good just to have a meet up once a month. Didn't there used to be a Ducati meet at the Donnington services ( top of M42 ) years ago ? Is that a good place to start ?
Ill do a bit more research on suitable locations which have good roads to them. MM sounds good, so does a bit more north. I was thinking maybe a Sunday lunchtime once a month through summer? Keep the ideas coming and hopefully we can get a location sorted. For those of you that are after the frame stickers I'm replicating, I'll bring them along so you can see them in the flesh before Bryan starts printing them again. Cheers Haydn
I would certainly be interested in meeting up for some rides over the summer. Great idea The Sharnbrook Hotel on the A6 near Bedford is hosting its Italian Car and Bike day on Sunday 22nd June, that is always a nice ride down there. sometimes incident free too! Could do the usual meets at MM to join in at Mac D in Market Harborough, ride down together
Definitely sounds like a plan. I'm happy with looking for somewhere to meet in Melton Mowbray. I'll start having a look at decent pubs etc if everyone a happy with Melton Mowbray?
A bit south for me for regular rides but should be able to meet a few times. Decide on a location to suit yourself the let everyone come along, it's often better that way to avoid three months worth of arguing about a location to suit all!
Haydn, The normal place to meet is the Esso filling station on the corner off the B607 and B6047. Loads of space and the chance to fill up. There is a park next door with toilets but it may well be closed. Then head down the B6047 to the intersection with the A6 at Market Harborough to the Mac D's on the roundabout to meet with anyone joining in there. To bedford it's down the A6 etc . This road forms part of the Melton TT route.
Thanks for the info. Ok so just an idea, meet at a pub, grab sandwich and a coke, have a chat and then go for a blast? The Anne of Cleve's looks ok, has a car park, hot food and baguettes and for added bonus is apparently haunted. Nice! I've never been to this pub but at the end of the day it's a pub, somewhere to meet up. We can always change the venue if it's not up to scratch. First Sunday of the month, starting from May? http://www.thegoodpubguide.co.uk/pub/view/Anne-of-Cleves-LE13-1AE http://www.everards.co.uk/media/pubs/menus/Anne_of_Cleves_Lunch_Menu_Mar_13.pdf Cheers Haydn
