I just want to confirm what way the locking nut on the rear wheel is threaded. Would i be correct in assuming to undo it, it needs to be rotated clockwise ?
doh, no its a regular thread anti clock wise to undo……….righty tight... bet its really tight and you are wondering which way to turn it,……..research on here re 24 volt impact wrench..
Havn't tried it yet Andy.................................but i'm assuming it's going to be tight lol. Yes i read the thread and yes, been to Machine Mart this morning and got one. I don't know why though, but i had it in my mind it would be an anticlockwise thread (clockwise to undo).
Didn't get the cordless one though, got the 240v one. The amount of use it's going to get won't be that much. A cordless one that only get's used now and again will probably knacker the battery.
yeah i though about this too…………even in spain on a away trackday id still have a power extension for tyre warmers so the corded one it was at a third the price of the proper cordless ones...
Put on paddock stand, Put it in 6th gear... turn wheel anti clockwise with socket until the engine compression bites... Apply rear break with right foot... use breaker bar on socket at 12 oclock... push bar away from you... Work for me every time on 748 and 848...
An impact driver is so much easier, a half second pull of the trigger and the jobs done. It's a no brainer as far as i'm concerned.
Oberon are made of cheese. Though they did sent me a new one foc when I emailed them about my mangled one (with the nut still not moved). Got a massive 55mm ring and open spanner combined with a rubber mallet.... never fails!
Torque setting on 748/916/996 ..... 157 NM . (Guessing the 848 is the same , as same size) . 1098 ................ 230 NM .
They are well tight to get off , i use one of these Clarke CEW1000 Electric Impact Wrench - Machine Mart I always use a torque wrench to tighten it though  ...
