To all 1098R owners

  1. Chaps, i've just been perusing flea-bay as you do on a wet sunday afternoon and noticed Snells are selling a tricked-up 1098R with mucho bling bolted onto it (Desmo forks - lovely!), and only 578 miles (really?!)

However......it's got a numbered placque on top yoke, and mine doesn't!

Do any of yours??? (i know the Bayliss bunch have a numbered placque, but what about the normal 1098R's)

    see piccy below

  2. The other one for sale on Ebay at the moment doesn't. Would be interested to know why...

  3. Didn't they make more than 450?

  4. I'm pretty sure they did, although i know the Bayliss model was around 500?

  5. There were 1000 made in 2008 to meet the minimum homologation requirement at the time, I had one...there was no number on the headstock ....but this is a 2009 bike so it should be the Bayliss version...I'd expect the numbering to look like this..

perhaps the fancy front suspension needed a wider track....... new triple clamps..

  6. I think you will find the only 1098r with a palque were for the USA !

  11. Nope, definitely no plaque on the homologation bikes. For homologation, Ducati had to register at least 100 bikes for the road by no later than 1 July 2008.

  12. Stunning bike

  13. No numbers on mine ,or any other one Ive seen

  14. I've seen the snells one. No detail left untouched. The giy chucked everything at it, and the forks look right

  15. As mentioned above in a post, only the USA 1098R's were numbered. A few arrived in UK between 08/09. No real difference between them other than that as far as I'm aware.

  16. It actually looks like an after market part, as per the other pic it's usually riveted to the yokes

  17. Rutter's bike

  18. A race bike with light/indicator switch gear and a key?

  19. Yes, raced by Rutter in the TT Superstock. Looks like these are US bikes limited to 450.
