How Much!!

  1. Girlfriend went to the local pub last night to participate in the quiz. She just text me, £3.70 for a pint of Carlsberg with lime! Reading the paper yesterday, our borough council has voiced its concerns over the closing of public houses and wishes to start an investigation as to why this is happening. Are they really that thick?

How much do you pay for a bog standard pint in your local?

Do you visit the local as much as you used too?

To me, the end began with the smoking ban then helped along with the increased taxes on alcohol.

I don't bother with the pub much anymore, I can get 20 pints for a tenner from the supermarket.

  2. About the same. A fiver for a premium pint

  3. I stopped drinking in pubs a long time ago, my village doesn't have one so it means driving and therefore not drinking...

  4. i only go to the pub once a year for loopallu think it was £3.50 for a Guinness. i like the smoking ban in the pub i smoke less, hangovers arnt as bad. i think the craics better as well.

  5. Tend to agree - Have not been to a pub since before Christmas - Prefer going out for a meal and a drop of the red stuff!

And - I was at my posh local that's a modified print building when they put a big housing estate next to the local Grand Union Canal - Small glass of wine and a pint of bitter - Oh, that will be just over a tenner please sir!!...... I had to check with the barperson that he'd got the prices correct!

It's a joke - The only good thing is that I always get a seat in that pub as no fecker can afford to drink there!!

  6. Yeah, about 7-8 years ago I was going about 3 times a week to the pub, now I go once a fortnight, maybe twice and if it's on a Sunday eve with the dog it's just for the one and that's it. It is around £4-4.50 for a premium larger and high £3 for fosters (which isn't on tap at the two locals).

It's really getting expensive to go for a beer with mates when you think that I can sit at home and drink 3 bottles of my fav ale for around £5

  7. About £4.70 for a pint of Peroni lager in the local pub. London prices, so don't go to the pub much as mentioned, the supermarket is cheaper, to compare Three bottles of 660ml of Peroni = £5.00

  8. I do still like to go to the pub because it is a nice atmosphere and it's nice to get out, but I have to say that I always get that increase in money back by simply drinking less so I don't end up smashing cash.

  9. £3.60 for Fosters. Shot of lime is 20-30p probably.
I do about £40 a night once maybe twice a week. 4/5 pints and 2 x large wine for the gf.

  10. ...and a wine for the lady...

  11. £3-30 per pint of Carling. Call in Saturday after the lad has played football on the park and sometimes on Sunday afternoon.

  12. Mrs went to a do at the local buffs club. £1.50 a pint, £2 large glass wine. I have been banned from joining ;-)

  13. I was telling a girl in the pub about my uncanny ability to guess the day a woman was born on just by feeling their breasts.

"Really?" she said. "Go on then... Try."

After about 30 seconds of fondling she began to lose patience.

"Come on," she demanded, "What day was I born on?"

    "Yesterday?"

  15. I'd pay anyone £3.70 just to see them drink that shit. nasty stuff.

  16. I used to hit the pub every night. Can't afford it now. Still go out every weekend though, but then I don't drink at home at all (nothing sadder than drinking on your own, I reckon). £3.95 for Fosters down my local:frown:

  17. The mark up on beer is crazy, my local pub is around £4.00 a pint for decent IPA I can buy the same in a bottle for £1.30 in Aldi.

I agree, the smoking ban has killed the local pub.

  18. Our local pub is a proper drinkers boozer with a large selection of well kept ales and a smattering of yer mass produced lagers Most expensive is £3.00 for your "designer" lagers.
Real Ale £2.80. Add in yer cheese and onion, beef or ham cobs, bags of pig and nuts, you can take the missus out for a full slap up meal for just under a tenner.

No surprise, the pub is always busy!

  19. Now that sounds like my type of pub, details please?
