Saw this. I don't think the 899 will ever been seen as common but it's definitely popular with quite a few people. Ducati's ‘Ferrari of bikes’ tops motorcycle sales charts - Telegraph
Thanks for that, it's interesting as I was wondering how many have sold. Ducati put a really big push in to sell those bikes though, you were getting a £1700 exhaust for 'free' so everyone wins. I think they are popular because of the little touches like a slightly thicker seat; I know it sounds silly but it's tiny touches that make people think that it can be a 'do it all' bike. And it's a great looking bike, in the flesh at the show I kept thinking it feels even smaller than the 1199 and has the dimensions and feel of my old 250, I was dangerously hooked! It will be the next bike.
I would imagine the free Termi's in December would be the push needed for anybody thinking about buying an 899 but was waiting for spring. It'll be interesting to see the sales figures in March which is usually busy for new bike sales, especially sportsbikes.
Its good....no doubt about it. I wouldnt expect that momentum to keep up. Id say Ducati were surprised nonetheless. 128 units...happy days. its a good start to a new model.
The article or Ducati UK spokesman failed to mention the free Termi's, I guess strategically they achieved exactly what they intended. I will stand corrected.......however, I can't recall such a generous incentive from Ducati to register/purchase prior to a specific deadline! Great offer, I guess most of us would- at some point- purchased the cans anyway and paid nigh on £1500.
the most complete sports bike yet from ducati,…….. whatever……….not just a cheaper wannabe lookalikey then…..champagne taste on beer money...
most complete sports bike my arse,…………..first thing most do is change a load of stuff on it to try to emulate the bigger bike..
Who does? Most change a bot of plastic for carbon, and some cans. Hardly new front and back end, eh I wonder if Honda CBR owners face the same silly comments
well that and ohlins shock, ohlins forks……didn't you have the smaller version of the 1198…….what did you fit to yours?
and this one…. still I've made it up….what a silly comment:biggrin: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f93/ohlins-848-worth-9827/
Yep. Funny thing, I'd have done the same with an 1198 as well. They don't come with ohlins, esp a TTC rear. Go figure
Yawn indeed, we are all pretty damn bored of the 'poor cousin' speech. Back on topic, were they giving away the termi's and doing a 2% PCP deal? That's pretty damned good!
Yep TTX...fit fangers. I know its hard to believe, I mean once your mind is set thats it for life, right ;-) but so,e actually prefer the way the smaller bikes ride, handle etc and, also believe it or not, like to upgrade componants. Otherwise they wouldn't throw later engines in older chassis...
