Gave up after 2 miles!?

  1. Pulled away from the dealers and binned it?

  2. Yup, lowside drop and prob bagged it....or else told to "get rid of that thing...now !!! Or Im going to my mothers with the kids "

  3. Bit sad really - There is a guy I work with who went out and put a deposit down for a Triumph Bonny (the new one). He bought a jacket, lid and gloves at the same time... When he got home his missus let him have it and he had to return the lot as he thought they had agreed that he can have a bike whereas she had a completely different perspective...

2 miles and binning it must have been a bit gutting for whoever owned that bike though!

  5. I use to work just round the corner from Fowlers of Cheltenham (Yes it was a few years ago) & a lad that worked it our place was so excited about his new bike arriving, he went to collect it on the quiet during his lunch break. Managed to low side it at the junction outside.

  6. A few years back, walked into a showroom and there was a GSXR 1000, 6months old with 36 miles on it. Guy bought it, rode it home and fell through a roof on the Monday, broke his ankles and wrists and couldn't ride again... on top of the £3.5k he lost selling it. Tragic..

  7. Now that is a bad result.

  8. My father bought a souped up Golf GTI many years ago as a bit of fun. It had just been returned to the garage by someone who had been scared witless by its performance. Got it for a mahoosive discount with something like 75 miles on the clock.

  9. lmao....you said "mahoosive"......I thought that was just an Irish thing...:upyeah:

  10. I'd had my 1150GSA for 2 days.
Pulling away from the Dealers, going for a ride-out with the salesman on a 1200GS leading.
Two-up with the missus on the back, for some unknown reason I stood up on the pegs, realised the main road T junction was closer than I thought....jammed the brakes on too hard and promptly dropped it onto my outstretched right leg.
Luckily the other guy saw what had happened and came back to help my missus lift the bastad off me.
I can't remember being embarrassed because my knee swelled up like a football in seconds.
I still went for a spin but I was in agony for days after...Christ knows what it weighed fully fuelled and two up but I've never forgotten the pain..

  11. I bet this sort of thing happens a lot. If I was to guess what happened in its entirety I would say this person got up Monday morning having never sat on a bike before, spent all week doing intensive direct access course and by Friday had a license. Was in a lucky enough position to then go out and buy a brand new bike. Having only a few days experience then pulled out of the dealers on a bike that has a power/weight ratio that's more than supercar and is a bit of handful compared the mule they've done their test on. Feeling a bit nervous and unsure of the controls and power has panicked when something on the road has happened suddenly and unexpectedly. Seeing as the bike is a couple of years old I bet it's been sat in the garage whilst the owners injuries/nerves recovered. Looks like it may be a good buy, only has minimal damage.
