rumour has it that all Ducati Motogp efforts will move to open class, to be honest why wouldn't they. if you stay in the 'factory' class all you get is to play with your own ecu and software, you get loads less fuel, loads less engines and less tyre choices. if Honda and yamaha want to continue that then good luck to them, I'd rather be able to turn up the wick with more fuel
Ducati have a bike problem to fix. Why complicate this by trying to get the ECU/software working with it as well? They may as well go Open class and use the extra fuel and engine allowance and sort their bike problems out first! Once the bike handling is sorted they can then move back into the Factory class and "just" have to develop their own software. No brainer if you ask me!
If they can change anything they want with the exception of software whereas Honda and Yamaha cant then I'm at a loss to understand which class is more prototype to be honest . Now the smart money says run one bike with a trellis to compare side by side on the same track , no brainer surely.
have to agree, the current 'factory' prototype class is the most restrictive in terms of engine & bike development throughout the season so really it's just a software and fuel economy excercise....... Boring when you think about it. when it comes to racing I don't give a monkeys about how many mpg they get, nobody does. You want huge power and if you get that by running a spec ecu then so be it
This is true hence pedrosa wheel sensor knocked off resulted in high side , the best electrics have been winning for a while not the most power
Ok, huge power, more grip and ability to change what you want, when you want (apart from ecu) im still sold on the open class vs factory
