Does anyone know some good tracks in france not the major ones just fancy doing some thing different, was a few in old fastbike /performance bike videos a few years back cant think off them ,
I have only been to magny cours, great track, good on track safety systems,BUT allowing all types of riders and bikes on at the same time. I am talking of a CB500 being overtaken by R1 S1000 RR etc track specials doing double the CB500 speed down the straights, just bloody crazy!!
Went to Val de Vienne a couple of years back. Nice mid section straight then the track goes up it's own jacksy at the end.
seems loads of good tracks around but getting bad vibes over the noise limit, seems most around 100db, no way a panni 1199 would get through that, anybody actually had their panni on a circuit what allows it to pass noise testing, got the std cans on still.
I like Val de Vienne a lot (not that far from the UK). Have also done Ledenon about 3 times (weekends) - a great fun track. Not near the UK at all. I think I liked them more than Magny Cours. Le Castellet is maybe less interesting, but after seeing about 1'000 Bol D'Ors there, still special. I've never been noise-tested anywhere, but then I've not been on track for 10 years.
cheers for that el tora tora tora but pardon me French wtf has that to do wi noise testing ?
in croix there is no noise testing so that is no probleme in folembray you need to have stock cans or DB killers, but the times i was there they just looked at it and did no test. as long as nobody was to loud it was OK. henk!!!
Depends on your bike. If you have something smaller that would suit a tight track then Circuit Carole is just to the east of Paris. They used to let you queue up and pay by the hour or the lap, something like that anyway. Very informal. Built to stop the local kids doing the same thing on the Peripherique.( seriously doubt i have spelled that correctly)
The small ones : Croix / folembray/Ecuyers/carole are pritty Micky Mouse and in MHO not worth the trip ( time/expenses) if you can do your UK tracks instead Dijon and Le Mans are the way to go... And if it's Freanch you want To hear : You'll have that at SPA as well... never had issues on noise we'll be at LeMans 21/22 of juli... have a look at Bikersdays.be
There are at least two in my neck of the woods. Nogaro and Pau. Pau in particular is a bit of a hidden gem. Undulating and scenic. You can get the Santander ferry to cut the miles down and also combine them with some Pyreneen riding.
it is true, tracks like croix and folembray are small but if you don't ride a semi 1199 factory superbike  and only ride an SS you can still have lots of fun on these tracks. also good if you want to do some testing on you bike because you can get some cheap trackdays over there. but i agree if you drive a strong bike it is a bit of a tight track. henk!!!
Ridden a few Pau Arnos. Great, but prefer a smaller bike there. Val de Vienne, nice track, bit flat. Nogaro, really nice track but hate the escargo (snail) Haut Saintonge, small but a good little track. Perfect for a Aprilia RS 250. Le Mans, love it. Need Powa... Magny Cours, fast. Need even more Powa.. Merignac, de la 'merde' Lurcy Levis, crap Riding Ledenon in 3 weeks, apparently top. Twisty so taking the Aprilia. Never had much issues with noise (apart from Charade but you cannot ride a bike there anymore because of the winging f@@@ng neighbours) but last time I rode at Pau I failed the noise test with the RC8R Track (it is a bit noisy...), the noise tester was young so I told him that the measurements were false because of the low exhaust. He let me ride, bless him.
Can't believe you won't enjoy Ledenon. The hill coming on to the straight after the "Cuvette" is very steep. You don't really notice on the bike, except that the front goes very light or waves about in the air (depending on the power you have). But when you walk it, it's very steep. It's twisty, but more technical than anything else. Having some stomp is still useful, and the straight is quite handy even if you can't pull top.
