Hi I'm new to this forum. Have been with ukmoc for the last while. Just bought a '10 plate 1200s from ducati manchester. The bike came with an after market screen which is taller and wider than the original, but at high speeds the wind turbulence is so bad it make my vision blurred! What's the best after market screen out there? any help appreciated. Anthony.
How do - loads of newbies joining at the moment - hopefully, one of 'em will be able to answer your question
Most people find a very small screen the most satisfactory answer - like that fitted to the Pikes Peak model. There are also spacers (search Aztec spacers) available that change the angle of the screen and allow airflow behind it to smooth it out. Varying results depending on your height and riding position.
Hi, and welcome to the fun. For me the Aztec spacers and the Puig Sports screen did the trick. Smooth airflow at any speed. Steve
Get a short screen - it's the only real solution. Initially it feels like there's a lot of pressure at high speed but you soon get used to it. I've toured Europe with mine and done plenty of high speed motorway work and I won't be going back to a tall screen. It also looks a lot better
Thanks for the advice. Will experiment with a shorter screen, and yes they do look better. Planning a trip to madrid in the spring so plenty of time.
I cut down my standard screen as per the instructions on here somewhere and it has sorted the problem. I do have a touring screen in the garage but have not bothered with it since.
I did the same, DIY shorty screen but from time to time have tried out a number of different screens always reverting to my DIY jobby Best off the shelf solution for compromise between performance/looks/fit is the Puig Sport (shorty). What helps almost regardless of screen used are the Multistrada 1200 MTS1200 Wind Deflector Wings but sadly only available from Eagle Screens in Australia so the shipping adds a fair whack to the cost! I tried various screens and the Aztec spacers on mine and found the standard screen with spacers the best, however the game changer was swapping my old Multitec lid for a new Shoei GT Air, Not a cheap option I grant you but if you are due for a lid change in the near future, its certainly one to try.
Hmmm - that's an interesting point. I changed to one of those lids at the start of last year, so maybe that's got more to do with it than the screen (or getting used to the wind pressure) - hadn't thought about it before...
Iv'e got the Puig sports screen and the Shoei GT Air. Wind, turbulence, clean air etc no longer an issue. Honest. Never known a helmet so suited to a machine.
+1 for the Eagle Wind Deflectors. Here are mine combined with the Puig Sports Screen. These days I also have the Aztec Spacers fitted. Perfect solution - even with my noisy Arai helmet!
Ive got the Puig shorty and wind deflectors, but still get some wind noise, nothing like the standard set up though Perhaps I need to give the Aztec spacers a go, does anyone know if he his still supplying them? Or anyone selling some..?
I've got some somewhere - they're yours for £20 posted if you want them (provided I can find them)
I've got at least five screens and numerous spacers, even the Palmer Products moveable angle thingy....still not happy. I think I'll try the mini screen next with the little aerofoil things at the side, like Briggers. I LOVE MY MUTLEY...is that wrong in this day an age...SWMBO said the other day " we must get married...I agreed; unfortunately she meant to her"
