BT MotoGP presenters...

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Il Presidente, Feb 5, 2014.

  1. Splitting the Julie and Toby team is good for me as I found their banter really annoying as they guffaw and giggle at each others jokes or compare a manoeuvre with 1 from 1968,while missing whats happening on track. I can take either of them on their own tho and hopefully Spalders will still be involved as I don't think he was on wages, just a guest. Toseland hasn't got the personality for presenting and his voice does come across a bit weedy. I like Hodgson, he converses with other commentators well and has a reasonable sense of humour. Personally I will miss Parrish/Cox, I found their presentation interesting, exciting and Cox's clichés amusing. At least Tony, what can we take from this,Carter and James, erm, arrgh, oooh, youknow,Haydon aren't involved.

  2. that sums it up almost perfectly!! (removed the parrish/cox bit 'cos they are knobs!)

also the Tuesday night hightlights looks like one to miss - fecking Craig bloody "you didn't expect them to be doing that" Doyle - still if it gets him off the TT coverage i'll be happy!

  3. Emmet is very knowledgeable and good to listen too. Ryder sounds like a train spotter IMO.

  4. It appears that the team will be Ryder, Heuwen and Hodgson; no Emmett or Toseland.

  5. I liked Neil Spalding's technical analysis and I admired his patience when Toby and Jules!! used to wind him up and use him as the the butt of jokes. He was treated like a new boy at school, which I think was unprofessional.

It's shame he doesn't seem to be involved. He is in Sepang at the moment watching the tests so he must be somehow involved in something.

  6. Is this still just a rumour or has it been confirmed officially anywhere?

  7. anything as long as 'Cox' isn't involved. I hate the bloke, he just uses the same lines all the time! 'Mumbo' 'Backyard Pass' (Copyright NickyHayden but doesn't bother him). Yuk!

Hodgson is a godo shout.... there is someone else who I think is a GREAT commentator, and would fit somewhere, whether it's BSB or maybe in GP....... and that is....

    Niall Mackenzie.... Thoughts?

  8. McKenzie is knowledgeable but he seems to lack any form of wit, you do need it sometimes. I know someone who did a track day course with him and said that he was not a good instructor because he lacked people skills and found it difficult to communicate with him. A good rider though who clearly knows the game and all it entails.

Given a protracted chance he could improve and there could be worse.

  9. Cox should be shot, like a fox. Ryder should be bludgeoned to death, before he bores us all to death. Heuwen? Okay I suppose. Parrish is good enough for the job. Spalding sounds dour but is actually very interesting. Toseland hasn't learned to speak yet. Nor has Mackenzie. Hodgson's okay, but will start every sentence with, "Well, when I were racing...".

If it were my choice I'd stick Parrish and Whitham in the booth, with Spalders as tech backup, and Bike Channel's Suzy Taylor wiggling her arse on the grid.

But as I've said before, I reckon the best bloke for the job is DJ Carl Cox. Very knowledgeable and a great speaker, he'd be perfect. Don't reckon they could afford him though...

  10. Easy on the eye:)

  11. They've got Keith Huewen and Julian Ryder to do the bikey bit. Melanie brings a couple of other things to the table.

  15. does anybody know where toby moody is going, I quite liked him and Julian ryder together

  16. I liked Toby, he started commentating on DTM or Touring cars last year, so missed a few of the MotoGPs on Eurosport, guess that's one of his jobs.

  17. Good shouts :upyeah:

  18. I would. Again

  19. Toby Moody has also covered the Paris Dakar and The Red Bull X games. It looks like he is hedging his bets at the moment and commentating on anything that is motorsport related. He also writes some articles for online magazines. I'd be surprised if you saw him much in involved in any bikesport this year.
