Hi all, I've been getting an intermittent EXVL warning this week so I decided to take the cover off the stock exhaust and take a look. The top of the mechanism is so badly corroded that it looks like it was salvaged from an ancient ship wreck. The bike is nearly 2 years old and has covered just over 9k. I can afford a fancy pants aftermarket system. Has anyone had a problem this severe? Will I get it replaced under warranty? Are the parts available as separate items?
There have been some issues reported which has been due to the valve sticking where it's got dirty & corroded. Some have been replaced I think but it might be worth giving it all a clean & spray with something like WD40. Before I fitted a MIVV I woud take the silencer cover of every 6 Months or so to give it the once over.
Disconnect the cable.... See post #35 for a photo. It will leave the valve in the open position (physically), and you won't get exvl errors... http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/fatducs-1645/index2.html

Yep same as above. i just wire brushed it all, cleaned it with wd40 & coated with AC50. That was about 1000mls ago,bn fine since
Endless Ex Valve Probs I have had ongoing issues with this ex valve on my 1200 multi tour , Bike is now 6 months old and 4,500 miles , probs started just after first service , dealer has dismantled and cleaned it up 3 times now , the strange thing is that it never throws up a error code on the dash ,apparantly only throws up error code if it sticks open but not when it sticks shut or partially so . I was told that riding around on salted roads was the cause of my ex valve probs , dealer is now going too fit a new unit under warranty , The prob manifests itself if I dont ride the bike for a couple days , when I take it out its performance is strangled , If I ride it a few miles then leave it stood for a hour or so it usually mysteriously cures itself and is ok untill I leave the bike unridden again for a couple days. My dealer dosent have workshop facilities on a Saturday which coupled with my work commitments makes it difficult for me to get the bike back in there at a mutually convienient time , however new unit should be fitted Friday next and hopefully all will be well I would happily disconnect the blooody thing or fit a aftermarket pipe but I dont see why I should have too! , this was a very expensive motorcycle and it should work properly .. end off ! Anyone having this sort of ongoing problem with a car would have dumped it on the forecourt by now and would be heading for trading standards deptment I had a almost new 1100 mile Yamaha FZ1N which ran erratically at low revs , was told I needed to fit a power commander ...What bollox ! You wouldnt buy a new or almost new car that was offtune and expect to have to buy a gadget costing many hundreds of pounds too correct it !
Well that was fun, took exhaust off, cleaned, lubed, all back working again. As per usual, now I have a question - how far is ur exhaust (I have a stubby) from the tyre, I have 1.5 cm ? Pic to follow Am sure nothing to worry about but it's realllllly close... Bugs.
