And the recalls start!!!

  1. Had a nice letter from Ducati on my mat on my return from work. Re rear suspension failure!! Rang my local dealer and they know nothing about it!!

I know the Italians are a relaxed race but come on!!!! May be i should of gone for the BMW :)

But then I think again no matter what the pit falls of this make. Every time you start her up and ride the first 100 yards I'm a duke owner thro and thro.

Bike going in Tuesday bang goes my thrash tonight and duxford this weekend!!

  2. Is that the recall where they think the wrong bolt was used. If so the recall was made public over a week ago

  3. Yes first I heard about it and seastar know nothing about it!!! The mind boggles

  4. It's what you get for being an early adopter, just like the first iPhone it's development is done as much in its first year of sold service as it is at the factory. But on the plus side that makes you an innovator and forward thinker :)

  6. From what I've read, the current recall is a cock up at the factory as opposed to a developement issue, sure they'll follow, but hopefully only minor ones. first gen anything is always a gamble.

  7. Not as bad ad the recall some Bmw s1000rr have then, coonecting rods bolts are at fault and may become loose. They recalling about 1400 bikes of the new "facelift" model.

  8. It's def not just something that happens to Ducati, it's across the board. Engine replacements on the Aprilia RSVR spring to mind.

  9.
  10. Recalls and more often reworks are just part of manufacturing any vehicle. They're not the end of the world and I'd rather they called it back than ignored it

  11. I wonder are they recalling all 1199s etc models or are they able to identify specific models from the production line as its all computerised ?

  12. Normally it's done by frame number, from/to or production date from/to .

  13. Sure is ... some clown has only fitted the left side rear shock and missed off the right side one ......

.....and joking aside, no matter what the computer design package says about it still being able to control the swingarm, it looks wrong.

  14. I'm sure had forums been around when most bikes went from duel to mono shock, the same would have been said, or for that matter single sided swing arms. Things move on, and at least it's not where all the road crap just gets slung at it by the rear wheel. May not be to your taste, but maybe it'll grow on you, but then maybe not. The are a few design features that I'm not too sold on on the 1199, and I think it will be interesting to see how the bike develops over the next couple of years.
