  1. This just happened...

Paid for and being delivered next weekend.

All the Yamaha Forums are a bit shite. I considered an R1 after reading the R1 thread, but decided I'd be dead quite quickly. I've always wanted one of these :) Also, I can actually insure it.

plus if you leave Glidd would have to update the average age and seeing that your about 12 the figures would not look good for the rest of us

  14. Souldve just bought an 916. Classic insewerance. Mine costs me £200 fully comp. (ish)

  17. As much as I love Ducatis... the relief of not having to worry about belts, expensive servicing and whether or not it will start every time I want to go out is a lovely feeling. I paid a couple of hundred less than £5k for that R6 and it's pristine. If I were to buy a 916, which would be 20 years old for an early one, it'd be a bit ropey and everything about it would be expensive and it'd be roughly the same price. I love Ducati but they do have a downside. I may be riding another Japanese soulless robot bike, but at least I will be able to ride it ;)

  19. a mates got the r1 out all year, 11 years old still mint, reliable and thrashed.

  20. Thats fair enough Tom, I can see the logic in that.

However you do realise you are now open for a project bike? One to tinker with and one to ride...

BTW my 916 is a 98 model and needs no more attention than any modern bike.
