  3. ive taken to lying, put my age at 35yrs for one job just for the crack,i thought it was funny but they didnt so i told them i wouldnt want to work for them anyway ha.

tbh before the layoffs i didnt feel old at all,i was puffing a bit but put that down to having given up smoking just a year before and still getting my fitness back.

this time last year i was 60ft down "the hole" all on my own cos the youngsters wouldnt do it, using a firehose to wash out conveyors of silt spill,in the snow and freezing fog and i must admit to dreaming then of a better life, little did i know heheh.

spect ill be back n bouncy when the spring/lighter days come in.

just been out this afternoon for a spin round nottingham in the winter sun and must admit i feel a lot lot better now, albeit ive now got a neutral light on all the time  ,another job to look forward to.

  4. Good on you Stanforth. I wanted an 1198 but opted for an SF on account of my great (55) age. You have put me to shame!

  5. Age is just a number-not what you ARE. I had my first ride for 2 months yesterday-I'd forgotten how good it felt!

  6. Stanforth - may I enquire which aermacchi you have ?

  7. You might get back in to the quarrying game, most of the s & g companies are starting to reopen sites and recruit, last year several if them had the best years for over a decade.

i don't know about hard rock, but they must be gearing themselves up for a big increase in demand.

oh and welcome from someone who is a mere 49-3/4s

  10. thanks chaps.
dunno what its like near you but here in notts its blowing a right hooli, wheelie bins and allsorts of crap flying down the road.
strangely the duc seems unaffected and has remained upright through all the winter gales so far.

  12. 56? Old?

Give me a break. I'll be 54 later this year and I'm damned if I think of myself as old. I must be the same age as George Clooney and a couple of years older than Brad Pitt.

    Now pull yourself together man!

Oh, and welcome to the forum (where the advice pulls no punches!).

  13. thats pretty mr stanforth, like it lots.

and mr glidd,im afraid 54yrs is the start of everything falling off, only takes two years for the 50+yrs wirth of bodily greif to kick in.
    :chuckle:

    :upyeah:

  14. Rolling Stones are stil ripping it up, and by all accounts they should be dead.

Plenty of life left yet, and years and thousands of miles of Ducati usage.
