Indeed satzoomer, and more specifically the ROGs  Andy they arrived today mate, many thanks. Will pass the stickers on too
Received with thanks ............everyone should have had confirmation from me. They were posted by Erik yesterday afternoon. STILL TWO UP FOR GRABS ;-)
Received and fitted to 2013 model. Need some warmer weather to see if it works!!!. Many thanks Andy for a sterling job and the free stickers!!!!
Just fitted mine this afternoon. The bottom corner of the shield fouled the centre-stand spring. It only took two minutes to file away a few millimetres of metal so that it clears. Unfortunately that corner is now bare metal instead of coated. The shield fitted OK apart from that. At the same time I fitted a banjo bolt with a bleed nipple to the ABS unit under the seat (and cut a little hole in the seat base to clear the nipple), replacing the plain banjo bolt. Also replaced the brake fluid, which was looking quite dirty, with fresh DOT4. Didn't have enough time to bleed the system to the caliper properly - maybe tomorrow. I need to get the back brake working well enough for the first MOT, which falls due shortly.
Thanks for letting me know guys. Strange that Pete as this is the MKII version of the heat shields that was apparently adapted for bikes with centre stands ....got a pot of black Smoothrite kicking around? ;-)
Discovered a further minor problem. Just behind the foot brake lever is a little steel bracket with the brake light switch screwed into it. With the heat shield fitted behind the master cylinder, the switch bracket is pushed out a few millimetres so that it fouls the back of the lever. It scrapes annoyingly. I took off the switch bracket and filed away a few millimetres of steel to restore the clearance, which took only a few minutes. It's fine now, but that's another bit previously coated metal now bare.
Hi Pete, REALLY sorry you're having issues, don't understand this as Erik has sold dozens of these in the US and following the MKII modified version no reports of problems at all. I'll drop Erik a note and see if he can shed any light.....so I have all the facts year/model of your bike please, although I don't believe there's any differences to account for what you're reporting. For reference.......unfinished/unpainted demo: Guard in place with master cylinder removed to demonstrate how it fits ...and with the master cylinder refitted And another shot Obviously with the finished items the black powder coated side would be visible with the silver heat insulating 'fabric' facing the engine casing.
Don't worry, the issues are only minor ones and easily dealt with. In the photos you have posted, (1) the centre-stand and its springs are not fitted; and (2) the brake lever seems to be a non-standard aftermarket part. That accounts for the two little problems I mentioned (involving the standard centre-stand & springs and the standard brake lever) not manifesting in the demo.
I haven't got a centre stand so can't comment on that but there is no interference problem between the brake lever and the switch bracket, although it is very close.
Derek/John thanks.........as I mentioned before Pete is the only person to have had an issue (sorry Pete, no comfort in that for you). Pete - all very strange and I'm disappointed that you've had these issues. I'd offer you a partial refund but what everyone has paid me is literally the cost of the items, p&p etc. I've not heard back from Erik yet but will point him this direction.
