Yey or ney? Number boards - 1098S

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by freshage, Mar 16, 2012.

  1. I have them on the 748S, look the bloody part as well with the single seat.

I am thinking, to get a nose and rear seat (including the cowel) numberboard sticker set. Thoughts? Not sure if it looks right or not lol.

  2. A definate Yey....on the red ones anyway.

  3. Got one on me 848 from Motografix. They will custom-make one for you for a few extra quid to your design. As mine is a stealthy one, I got them to make it special for me. Well pleased.

  4. That's the motografix gel type ones on yours, if I remember correctly isn't it?

  5. That is my bike photos on the Carbon Trader website. I made the templates for him when I had my 1098S. They are 'fiddly' to fit as you have to stretch them but they look great once they are on. There is a 'knack' to getting it right. Some people get half way through then roll them in a ball and throw them away. Patience is needed that's all !

I also had the Motografix number board, stops a lot of chips as it is much thicker than the normal vinyl.

    Pictures of both versions,

  6. +1 for the Motografix front boards, really well made and went on very easily. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for = quality product.

On the back i've got genuine OEM 1098R seat unit to fit.....ready painted with the race boards. I tried to fit an "auction site special" kit and failed miserably, had a massive tantrum, totally wrecked it, gave up and went down the pub. Stretchy vinyl my ar$e

  7. You need to thoroughly wet the vinyl and use a hairdryer when you stretch it over the edges. Does do your head in trying to get it right though.

  8. Yep - in answer to the question mine are jelly babies

  9. Iang27 has the right technique for the vinyl, even a wee bit of washing up liquid in the water sprayed on with a squirty atomiser bottle, heat and as he said loads of patients

  10. I'm not very gifted in the "patience" department......plus i'm a ham-fisted idiot, so usually leave it to the experts.

  11. That's the one, I thought I'd seen it before. It looks cool against the Matt black.

  12. I'd also say yes to the number boards and also a big thumbs up or motografix

  13. Sounds similar to venture shield kits you can get for helmets etc, correct?

  14. thats looks da bollocks:biggrin::upyeah:

  15. carbon Trader one looks much better IMHO.

  16. MotoGrafix? You cant beat them,.......had them for 5 yrs on my 999 and they still look brand new....

  17. You should use baby shampoo rather than washing up liquid according to venture shield

  18. Yeah,

Same effect really, you can actually buy application solution but when I was first getting into vinyl signs and decals, suppliers and other sign writers all just recommended and used a washing up liquid solution.

I have tried the solution but couldn't tell the difference, the Johnsons will get it next time I run out of fairy ;-)

  19. Baby Shampoo...no more tears ? Lol.....So it makes it easier to do it without crying ! Probably softer on your hands too.......
