Oulton Park fatal crash; solicitor acting.

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Biot, Feb 18, 2014.

  1. Just saw a post in the Mirror on line about one of the seriously injured guys involved in the crash last year suing Motorsport Vision and No Limits who were running the day. Lack of marshal red flag perhaps a negligent factor.

Have done the track day there a few times with Bike magazine and the marshalling seemed ok.

Maybe should be in 'Lounge' soz.

  2. Seemed a shocker, the reports I saw, and to have no marshall on the brow of a 150 mph hill seemed odd. But I do t think out of character for what was usual on a trackday.

While I like NL, and nothing will bring back those gone or change anything, if its proven negligent I hope they get fair dues and also it makes TD's even safer

  3. I would like to urge everyone on here to be aware that not all of the facts are available at this time. The HSE and the Police investigation is still ongoing and nothing has been released yet.

I understand that that the rider in question has been left with serious and life changing injuries however I am a little disapointed that the rider in question has not waited himself.

  4. Tbf if you were in that situation, and likely with family pressuring too, wouldn't you do the same? I probably would, as its not personal, its a process.

  5. I've always been of the opinion that track days are dangerous and that accidents can and do happen, so i made sure that i am covered on my critical illness cover for them just in case. Honestly though I am not in his situation so i really do not know how i would react, I can understand why he is doing it but if the Police / HSE investigation shows the lighting system on at the time of the accident (it will all be logged on the CCTV which was siezed by the Police on the day) i don't think he will have much of a case.

  6. I fully understand 'due process' in this sad case. Just watching it to see if it changes the way track days are run whatever the outcome of all the parties involved.

  7. Rumour is that MSV and other track owners will just go straight to red flags, which will make TD's untenable for me as I accept the odd red flag in a day but to be spending most of my time in pit lane, no thanks.

  8. Just having the same debate with my missus. Her view, interestingly for me as it was unexpected, was you ride it and tale the risk, do t go blaming someone else. Worth noting abroad a red flag seems really unusual and is normally because a bike is in the middle of the track, at the edge its yellows a crack on, or if the faller is injured

I am booking for a cple of trackdays in march. I fully expect a total of 5 max sessions of which at least 3 will be cut short because of red flags.

  9. unless there is someone else to blameā€¦..for the standard of most especially on track days...it is all about attitude...

  10. There is always someone else to blame if you look hard enough...he was slower than I thought..he lifted off...his line was inconsistent...he passed really close...the track was too dangerous to be open...add excuse/reason here..

  11. From what i have been reading, trackdays so far this year are seeing a big increase in red flagged sessions due to this incident.

Until the full facts are all known and the inquest has been heard then everything is supposition at the moment.

Superbike mag had this posted up on their Facebook page yesterday and have had to take it down due to the number of racist comments made. How very sad.

  12. I used to race. When I finished racing I did a few parades along with other former racers.
Then I tried a track day... it frightened the life out of me..

  13. Pmsl with you there, brother! Don't enjoy TDs anything like I used to. And way slower due to courtesy to others which is often not returned. Hence back to racing this year

  14. About time too................good luck with it.........

  15. On a completely different but very Similar Topic I was at the TT the year before last as per usual.
A guy overtook me going into a tightening bend to which I won't name. Lost it & died :(
I got dragged Pillar to Post by the filth & insurance investigators :( My deepest sympathy went out to his Family.
But it seemed that everyone wanted to get out of paying the liability.
But it was his choice to ride as fast as he wanted too. RIP

  16. If you like racing, does that make you racist?

  17. Was he wearing his race-face?

  18. Moved to lounge
