Saw that bike too and agree that graphics kit is trying too hard. Like the gold wheels. +1 for Snells.
So I had a road test at Snells on Saturday - wow what a machine, I was really impressed. I can't really tell how fast or how we'll it handles because it was very wet but I was pleased that it seemed very stable with the high winds hardly noticeable and with the screen at its highest I felt well protected from the elements and wind noise with no buffeting at all. Compared to my GS it seems that Ducati have the aerodynamics sorted. i am going to order a top box and panniers and hope that they don't affect the handling or stability too much (comments welcome on this point) Now I have got to do a deal:biggrin:
I bought my bike privately (at a few months old) and have had it looked after by Snells ever since - they have been great. MR also have a great reputation, and as they are closer to me they would have been my default choice, but I personally didn't have a particularly good experience with one of their sales guys so I took my wallet elsewhere. Like others have said, I think both dealers are up there with the best - but Snells gets my vote. Since they provided your test ride too, I would think the right thing to do is give them the chance to win your custom (provide everything else is equal)
To be honest I didn't want to do a test at one dealer and then buy from someone else because they are a few quid cheaper, I went to both Snells and MR to get a feel for them and whilst I have read great things about both and MR is closer so should also be my obvious choice. I decided to take a test on Snells bike and I will place my order with Snells. i probably should go back and test a bike with the luggage but I am smitten so will go with it anyway.
The only way this will give you any problem is if you over-load the luggage or have loads of weight on one side and nothing on the other - same as any other bike. If you load it sensibly you'll hardly notice it's on there, so no need to worry about it
Well I have placed an order, bike being built in April delivery somewhere in the 2nd half. Excited - I should bloody well say so
Got my 1200S Touring from Aylesbury....good dealer and prepared to negotiate. Got over £1k off the RRP and top box added as well.
I have enjoyed my discussions with Snells, I have been treated properly, didn't feel that I was irritating them and genuinely think that they wanted and value my business. I guess I might have been able to better the deal elsewhere but only by pennies and I think that this deal is ok for me and ok for them so no one feels that they have been had over. I think this is a good start to the after sales relationship. signed happy from Hampshire.
Well done for going for it. The MTS 1200 is a good decision that you are most unlikely to regret. Many bikes seem like a good idea at the time but after a few weeks or months you become bored, disillusioned or otherwise disappointed with them. That does not apply to this bike! Welcome to ownership.
I went for panniers, top box, heated grips, driving lights, electric fuel cap and got the first service thrown in to the total price. I probably could have done better elsewhere but I think I have got the total package so will build a good relationship with Snells.
