  1. That's a chain brake - and you should test it EVERY time you start the saw...

  2. I woz using simple terminology........and it is always 'on' when starting, only 'off' when I start to cut, I automatically click it 'as' soon as I finish the cut.

  3. As you should...

  4. fuckin hell I aint getting one of these things I'll stick to my trusty hand saw.

  5. Sounds safer to chop wood using dynamite!

be careful with that there saw, it's no toy.

  6. They seem to have their fans.

  7. I once saw a site foreman put a saw through a lath and plaster wall, for about 5 seconds, I fucked off with everyone else in the vicinity and let him get on with it, no gear at all.

The word **** doesn't even come close.

  8. Fuckin hell step aside Jack Nickleson

  9. I've a diamond chained one....makes quick work of any wall. Need a door...no problem..when the chain is done you can wear the old one as a necklace. New chains are £450 a time.

  10. I do feel cool using it and can't wait for my Kevlar chaps to turn up

  11. I recall an incident in the 80s where a bloke had the saw kick up and it hit his jugular.....

....chaps aren't much use when that happens.

Chainsaws, rip saws, bench saws and chop/mitre saws can all be bl**dy lethal if people are careless with them........

  12. If you have one of these then it is trump card at the ' what's the best tool you have' pub game.
I have had my Stihl many years and had to cut some serious trees in my friends garden.
IT IS A LETHAL TOOL THOUGH!!!!!

  13. I might like chainsaws more if their adepts planted as many trees as they cut down with them.

But that's not often the case.

I'm a lot keener on planting than cutting down. Chainsaws definitely have their uses, but I see no more reason to be enthusiastic about them than to be keen on lawnmowers, or hoes and rakes.

  14. I have been a forester for the last 21 years and it is not always possible to replant. when going into dense woodland to THIN out.

Yes chainsaw's can be dangerous in the wrong hands but so can a wet sponge, take your time and get yourself used to the weight and size. always use the chain break and check its oiling before you give it some welly. never use it above shoulder height.
Ok to be honest I am probably the last person to be giving advice on the use of chainsaws as I've had more than my share of accidents with them over the years. and also never keep your leading arm locked rigid you'll break your bloody wrist. (been there done that)
