  1. Maxxis Diamond MA3DS

Has anyone given these a go? Interesting write-ups. Might try a set through the winter months.

Answers on here please and not on post cards

  2. Mate has them on his ktoom 950 SM, swears by them....not at them like he used to his Pirellis! Lol

  3. Wantz1 has them on a 1098 and seems to get on Ok with them Ok. He'd be able to give you more detail if you drop him a message.

  4. Had a bad experience with their sports tyre letting go with no warning. There is a reason they are cheaper, IMHO.

Why scrimp to save £30 or so on tyres on a modern motorcycle?

  5. I have the diamonds.

IMHO, they have a funny profile that when you lean into corners they suddenly go from mid tyre to shoulder in a blink and tends to set you off balance, now I've had them a while the diamond shoulder bit I think is not as soft as it should be, but to be honest, I get on ok with them

They are the preferred choice in the Fast Bike magazine group test, so they can't be that bad

No I wouldn't buy them again

The supersports I find are better which I've put on every bike I've owned, and will be going on my 1098 for the spring I think

Don't bother with the maxis sports tourers either, I found they needed replacing pretty quick

  6. Thanks for the input guys. For the winter I am now on Pilot Sports. I run BSB's normally. Phenomenal in the dry, I am just looking for a bit more grip through the cold/wet winter months.

I used to have 2CT's on my 1098S they were good to!

    Safe riding chaps. :upyeah:

  7. You need Michelin PR3s. As has been said, for £30 more it isn't worth the compromise. I've tried Maxxis, and as wantz1 says, they feel odd, they may well grip ok, but it don't feel like it.

  8. I had them on my R1 and had no bother with them. In fact I'd say that they were as good if not better than the Bridgestones they replaced.

  9. And they do have some fit promo girls...

  10. just got one for the rear of my mutli for the winter so far really good
one front slide on shiney drain cover but i stayed up which is the main thing and thats the maxxi sports tourer front ,but i rfeckon any tyre would have let go on that poxy drain cover

  11. I have them on my Speed Triple R and fitted 'em in winter 2012 as my supercorsa's let go a cpl of times on cold and wet evenings riding home. Have done a euro trip round the alps and used 'em up til the roads were heavily gritted and never had any problems.

  12. I haven't tried the Maxxis motorcycle tyres, but in the offroad and MTB world, they make fantastically good tyres.

They used to be called "Chen Shin Tyre Company" back in the day, and no-one respectable would run their product. After the rebranding, and signing up of a few high profile riders, they became hot product. Now, they are the benchmark against which everything is judged.

I guess they are just slower to moto tyres at this premium end of the market, so I would imagine they are decent, but not perhaps yet at the Michelin/Bridgestone/Dunlop levels of development. They will likely get there though in time. They are "good learners" !!!!
