848 Evo luggage

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Troy, Jul 2, 2012.

  1. Appreciate any ones recommendations on luggage for my 848. I want to utilise the rear seat for an anchor and not have the need for several straps which will rub on the paint work. I am doing a billy no mates and doing Europe (Mid life crisis )

  2. A combination of Kriega US20s & US10s depending on the amount of luggage space you need. The straps go under the seat pad and so don't rub on any paintwork. I and mates have used this combination for several European trips on 1098s without any issues. The Kriega stuff is very good quality also US-20 DryBag - Kriega

  3. Ventura rack another good way

  4. Thank! Been on the web site and it's just what I'm looking for! Brilliant!

  5. Took del the kriega us 20 today and it bloody fantastic. Although you wouldn't believe I had a masters in mech engineering with how long it took me to figure out how it went on. Don't think the half bottle of red helped ( that's my excuse) cheers bianchi

  6. Excellent, glad you're pleased. Enjoy the trip and don't forget the photos!

An alternative to the Ventura system where the weight is held high on the bike, creating a pendulum effect, are panniers. These are Blaze and work well with 40Ltrs capacity. You can't feel the weight at all. £200 and highly recommended.

  8. I have a couple of sets of soft panniers; how the heck did you fit them without burning them with the cans or straps damaging the paintwork?!

Edited to add I can see lots of tape but is that a mounting frame of some kind?

  9. hi,
i would recommend ventura rack and luggage, went to south Italy and wdw12 no problems, easy to use, have a look on there website.

  10. Haha, only 4 years late! Sorry I missed your question and just found the link on a recent post. They sling over the seat cowl, which I protect with tape, and a bracket replaces the passenger footrest, onto which clips a support rod that extends rear wards and connects to the pannier to hold it away from the exhaust. Works well. You can't notice the weight as its coffee is nice and low.
