So what have you done today..?

  1. There is an owl lives near the house -ish. I heard it all last year - it hoots all night. It's been quiet over the winter, but started up again a couple of nights ago. I don't know where it lives, not on my bit of land by the sounds of it. It's probably already got a convenient hole at the neighbours, unless it's in the forest below but then its hoot is carrying a long way.

I'm not a bird watcher as such, but I'm just fond of all small (and large) creatures. I do my best to encourage all of them (and the cat does its best to discourage them).

  2. been to the garden centre and bought some plants from the bargain bench - couple of nice hydrangeas reduced from £20 to £3 and a few other shrubs

the wheelbarrow appears to be wedged in the roof of the garage - now where's Wantz when you need him

  3. Bristol n back, and a nice pint and chat with mate about this years racing

  4. Massive detour on the way home to collect parcel. DPD's idea of a 'local' depot is a 70 mile round trip....

  5. It was spring-ish yesterday.
Today it is snow at 700m. I am at 630m, so it's rain, but it's not exactly warm.

Think I missed my biking window of opportunity yesterday. But I was just too busy.

  6. Moved 20 tons of limestone chipings with the aid of a shovel and wheelbarrow . I am most definitely too fuckin old for this type of work !

  7. Today we received the Deeds to our house. The Building Society no longer wants to store house deeds.I suppose now we will have to pay them back the outstanding £1 left on our mortgage.Nice to have the paperwork though, after all these years.Makes interesting reading.

  8. Lovely feeling isn't it :upyeah:

Today I have mainly been shouting at the company's bank manager who allegedly deals in all things international, as he is a completely useless cnut that should be out of a job. I have been trying to get paperwork out of him for 3 months now and I still have no idea when he will have it ready! Tosser!

  9. Saw one of these :)

  10. Sure is.I still remember going through all the paperwork at our Solicitors when we bought the house.I had to stifle a snigger when she was reading through the Covenants and said 'you are not allowed to have any erections in the garden'.

  12. you'd think so, wouldn't you. I have few bits of Apple stuff ( mostly pies, some crumbles) , and don't usually have a problem.

After setting up, this is just briefly mirroring, but freezing and then dropping out. Not getting annoyed, and not launching out of the front window just yet......

Put it all away, and got it back out again, all enthusiastic like - new toy syndrome etc, recreate the excitement- start afresh....set up again... go through settings again...

works for 5 mins as expected!! wey hey, got this cracked.....

turned off, back on again, nope freezing again......turns towards window....

tinkered some more...... and it turns out the scart cable is just a bit too close to the aerial co-ax, and probably causing magnetic interference, moved the cable a bit further apart (stuff down back of cabinet), and it now seems to work as designed.

this tech stuff - like childs play...

next, i shall try wiring a three pin plug..... should help keep the bath water in then.

  13. Now that titles are registered at the Land Registry, the paper deeds are largely of historic interest only. Some of the older ones, if nicely engrossed and accompanied by coloured-in plans, are worth something in themselves as antiques.

  14. Friend of mine has an old bakery, has deeds going back - say, couple of centuries- shows older uses of his house - bakery ( obviously) gaol, post office, amongst others. Fascinating stuff.

Other good wall ornaments are old Chinese Railway share certs from the early 1900's. Very ornate, to have framed on the wall, and some are worth a few bob.

  15. Today I have mostly booked a business trip to Austria in ten days time, where I will be entertaining Viscount Weymouth and some of his Longleat management team.

I have also extended my visit over the following weekend so I can go snowboarding :upyeah:

  18. Been there, done that

  19. Went to JHP and got the first service done on the diavel. Very bad of me I know, but is just haven't had time to go out on it so it's only just been due. Excellent service so I'll be going there again.

bumped into Dave there who was getting some stuff done to his desmo prior to portimao. Nice to put another face to a name.

nearly smashed the bike up as I left, damp patch on the road, rear span up and I nearly high sided. Thank The Lord for TC! Now to rack the miles up.
