It's just bike riding ffs, it's not a Masons club or some other group that need to affirm their connection with that group/club.
I nodded to a Harley rider today.......... ........I bashed my head on the windscreen...... ............not his, but mine.........I was in the car.
I live in a rural area so tend to nod, but it's because it's a community thing for me. My mate lived in London for a while and said that if u were to nod to every biker u would end up like the dog off the Churchill advert, which is fair enough!
Took advantage of a dry day yesterday and took the Monster out for a blast - numerous nods and all returned ... except the HD rider. Just what is going on there? Some do nod back - but is far more common to be ignored! A guy on a KTM was going at a fair pace, and still responded.
It does make you wonder! I have this nagging idea that I should at least ride one of the bloody things (don't knock it until you've tried it etc) so I know what they are like - perhaps I'm missing something! I was considering an April fools wind-up on my brother (he had a Fazer and before that various Kawasaki's) by visiting him on a HD Sportster, (you can hire them for £80 a day) perhaps wearing all the regalia!!
I nod to any bikers I see, although in the main i find that harley type bikers and similar type dont usually nod back.
Just a quick search shows that other bikers think we are a load of tossers Lunchtime Debate: To nod or not to nod - Features - Visordown
I just find it laughable that people pick and choose who they're going to nod to and who they're going to ignore. Chaps, if you've got time to identify the oncoming bike then make the decision whether or not to nod, you ain't going fast enough. Sell the duke and buy something less scary...
Let's have another virtual hug for those who fell left out, by not getting a nod returned. There, there Diddums big cuddle wuddle for you xx
