  1. ha ha I thick norvern monkey

  2. Once he has done mine, he will have base settings on file, ask him to give you his recommended settings when he sends your shock back

  3. I'm there now, he took the shock apart and just stood there with his mouth wide open!! Shock was full of sludge, and he said it's the cheapest, nastiest shock he has seen! He is now drilling and grinding trying to modify it to work even remotely properly!!

  4. Is it fit for purpose? If not Ducati should sort it out as a sale of goods act issue I would imagine.

  5. He has totally re-designed the shock, removed loads of shims, drilled bigger bleed holes, re-shaped the shims on the piston and he has not finished yet!

As for fit for perpose, you can drive it down the road as it was so you are not going to win that argument, so just take it on the chin!

  6. Sorry dave, can't find which shock that is.. so what shock did look so nasty? tx

  7. Are you referring to the Sachs rear shock on the 899 now?

Let us know what it's like on the way home. I actually think the Showa on my 848 is pretty good as standard, well, a 100% better than my Daytona one was, for all it's fancy low/high speed adjustment.

  8. isn't the 899 ALL showa? that would be a first if they would make a so sh.tty shock ... i wouldn't be amazed form Sachs though.. never understood a 2 brand susp combo anyway...

  9. Rear shock is Sachs. Forks are the trendy and hopefully quality Showa Big Piston forks as used on Honda 600, Blade and ZX10 R.

  10. I could be wrong actually yeah, for some reason I thought they were using Showa front, Sachs rear because I remember thinking it was weird. Then again, Ducati have a history of this, as they alternated between Ohlins/Showa/Sachs etc on the 748/916 etc.

  11. Sachs ? what a shame...

  12. Yup it was the rear shock, it was hydraulic hydulick locking due to bad design

  13. And the poor guy has got to do it all again with mine when he gets it today!
You swapping spring as well? I guess he is looking at your forks as well? At least they ought to be reasonable as they are Japanese.

  14. He just test rode it and says it is best motorbike he has ever riden!!! He just rod he's worker to sell everything and buy on lol !!

  15. So he has made a silk purse out of that sow's ear of a shock then? Forks are better I hope.

  16. He loved the forks, said there better than standard ohlins

  17. .....seriously though, 899 or 1199, i cant decide. Heart says 11, head says 8. Never owned a ducati, and will still use an RC8 for everyday. Im thinking the 8 will be more usable and i could have it sooner as it costs less, but dont know if ill always want the bigger bike

  18. I think most Ducati owners listen to their hearts rather than their heads otherwise we'd all be on the Fireblade or R1 forums.

  19. Big m is right .. We re not here to be sensible :) as woody would say : the heart wants what the heart wants :)

  20. You're right. They do have a history of this. The Pantah 500 and perhaps 600 had any combination of Paoili and Marzocchi suspension front and rear. It was reckoned that Marzocchi was more desirable, Paoli being a bit cheapy. My Pantah had Paoli at the back, Marzocchi at the front, but bikes were sometimes the other way around, or all Marzocchi, or all Paoli. It just depended what they had in the bin when they made them.

I swapped the rear shocks for French Fournalès shocks that have no spring (all air, thus giving naturally rising rate).
