I understand then that you can't fit the radial brakes to the stock forks? Oh well. It would have been a nice to have but I can live happily with the brakes I've got.

You can. There's a company in Italy making radial 'feet' for Showas and Ohlins. But, I'd just go with Ohlins radial forks.
It's much easier to use standard showa forks and lower triple from a 1098 or 848 and then get the top clamp milled out. I spent 300 ish on the forks, including triple tree and some adjusterers and then 250 ish on the brakes.
