Countdown to Cartagena

  1. Yea, struggled the most with turn one 2 , couldnt quite hook it left to make the apex.
Downhill right hander was a cracker and the next turn...
The dust is still there , plenty lads running wide in it tho without incident.
Maybe looks worse than it actually is. Ran wide once on it and was shitting myself, lol.
Very respectable times you were running:upyeah:
Would be chuffed to break the 2 min next year with proper scrubs.

  2. Turn 2 was a challenge, tough left hooker that!
One chap on a 999 got it wrong there, I rounder the bend and there he was with his bike on top of him.
    Broke his collar bone...:frown:

  3. I can only repeat what Rd's posted above. It was beyond all expectations. The food at the track was great, not too expensive and its some fun !!!

Its quite a technical track so I was told. Turn one, into turn 2 as mentioned above is tough, you have to let the bike drift out to the left and it comes back in. I was very much focused on nailing my lines. After the 3 days i was flying around. I was only doing 2:24 but it was enough for me on the tyres I had.

Woolsey Coulter certainly has a way to explain and make you feel confident, an excellent instructor.

See video below. Bare in mind i was on my Bridgestone T30's. They performed great for 3 days but are now looking a little worse for wear. My first track day so was delighted how I got on. Learned a lot too. The bike was flawless. It was kinda odd, we were the only two Ducati's out of 75 bikes. Some ppl have no taste.... But they got A LOT of attention & sounded great up the straight. By day 3 i was hooking into 5th as on day okne i was pottering about in 3rd

Thanks to Nelson for the rental guys contact details. V cheap and picked us up from the airport to the apartment an hr away !! Service and a half ! :upyeah:

Some of the BSB boys were testing on the Thurs. Met Brookes, Hopper, Hutchinson, Bridewell...and Smrz on the Pani R !! Pics to follow later.

Sunday night....off loaded and nervous

  4. Love the video and just what my girlfreind (Diavel) and I (748R) need as we will be there on the 28th through to the 30th March. Put the video feed through a 55" Samsung LED tellie and it's awsome. Can't say thanks enough :upyeah:. Andy

  5. Youtube it, there are some really good vids of varying pace. I have one from 2013 somewhere, doing around 2m dead but ome on yT is in the 30's!

  6. Cheers Andy. You will have A LOT of fun. Its a technical track but look at the video to see the cones I am using as references. I will throw up another vid shortly where the instructor was following me, then he told me to tow him, so I took the correct lines.. Big learning curve for me, but it paid off !! The track is very grippy and abrasive but the average Joe will be fine on good road / track tyres. Stay outta the sun and bring a fleece to keep on as it can be breeezy down there.

    Cheers, Ray

dig it out man....would like to see it :upyeah:

  7. Good road tyres are fine on most tracks, the only real risk is overconfidence and pulling that throttle a bit too hard or braking a bit too late...if in doubt JUST TURN IT chances are it'll make it easy :upyeah:

Have tried to find and its not on laptop so will have a look round and ul to YT. But I did find a very wet, and my first time on wets, one from the. DUK day last year

  8. @ Andy
Best advice I can give you is to grab a instructor and follow him around for a session to learn the track :upyeah:
You will have a blast regardless of what pace you run at. Bring a cheap collapsable chair with you , nice to be able to rest up between sessions.
    Drink plenty of water too:upyeah:

  9. Had a break from track riding due to surgery on both heels and Achillies tendons and really only getting back to it now although I've managed to keep riding on the road. I know it's not everyones cup of tea but I have a hoot every time I go out on my 1200s Multi. Like me its never grown up and clearly thinks it can be a sports bike. Cartagena is my 60th birthday present from my girlfriend and I am REALLY looking forward to it. Only 19 days to go. Andy

  10. You'll love it! No pressure, sun and a technical grippy track. Great garages too
