Thanks for all the encouraging words chaps, i must admit looking back at the photos i think to myself i must be mad to take this project on but i do like a challenge and it has the classic look i was after. I will make sure that the 848 i am after does not have any rust and is not a project
My favourite before and after photo. I un-crimped the edges of both clocks and painted the needles and tacho rev range all orange as original and replaced the speedo shell due to rust damage, the front centre and rear cover are powder coated. The lettering is painted on then wiped over with a cloth.
Is this a reverse time lapse resto? Did you not just sneakily take pics back in 1980 and then waited till it rotted?
I wish i was  I started the restoration a year ago but progress has been slow the last few months as my mum past away last November and i have been very busy sorting out her things but i have been gathering a few more parts that i need so should be back on track very soon. Just think when i do retire i will have to get myself a bigger shed
A few photos of finished parts. Replated bolts and m/cylinder body powder coated and new seal repair kit fitted. Switch gear was painted satin and letters painted by hand.
F.....g incredible what yr doing to that bike, my 851 will be finished soon, so I know what yr going through.
My God. This is going to be a concourse bike when you've finished. And to think it started life as a vegetable garden.
when it goes for its mot, if the tester gives you any advisory items to look at, punch him in the face.
