Which used Bike to go for ? 2004 749s 26K Miles or 2005 749 with 16k Miles ?

  1. I'm looking at the 2004 749s with 26000Miles in classifieds and my local Dealer is selling a 55 Plate with new style swingarm 749 non s version with the only mod being a double bubble screen advertised for 3299 but he will take 3K cash. up to date service history and they have just done a belt change.

Which one would you go for and why ?

I'm leaning towards the 55 Plate 749 with less miles. Thanks in advance

  2. Same engine so go for the later model with snazzier swing arm.

  3. I'd be tempted by the classified one and get a later swing arm when funds available.

  4. Assuming similar price and service history, condition and whatnot, better the fewer miles bike esp if it has later swing arm.

  5. The MY05 bikes look so much better imho with red frame, improved fairing and black arm/wheels. The S will have slightly better suspension and a few more BHP.

  6. I would go with the later one from your dealer, plus the later facelift will always be worth more and are much prettier.

  7. I believe I'm right in saying the s engine from the mark 1 went into the base model mark 2, so the bhp of these two will be the same.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

  8. Later bike definitely ...:upyeah:

  9. Had to check up on that out of interest........
    2003 749 103bhp
    2004 749s 110bhp
    2005 749 108bhp
    2005 749s 116bhp

  10. That's as I understand it as well. The 749S deffo had an uplift in power in 2005, but tbh 108BHP is absolutely fine, it's what the 600 IL4's are putting out (just under) but with MUCH more usable power spread.

I ride with my mate on his 748 which is maybe 90HP versus my 140HP and tbh for what we do, he never gets left behind and vice versa when we swap bikes; it's just on track you would start to notice a difference.

  11. Thanks all, looks like I waited too long. Spoke to the dealer on the phone at lunch and he sold it to someone else for the full price.

  12. You a golfer...?

  13. Nope, I couldnt hit a ball that small with such a tiny bat. Besides I am not quite the type to be allowed in places that would likely have a dress code or code of conduct. Nor am I a freemason.

  14. Where are you based Pras? My mates immaculate 749 is currently on ebay. Manchester area. MiVV cans, rearsets , lots of carbon etc etc. I think its done around the 9k miles mark. Ducati 749 red 2006 | eBay
    It is a nice bike.

  15. Thanks timberwolf I was already the high bidder on that auction. I,m down south it,s 120 miles away. Any idea what his reserve is ? XD

  16. Distance no object to me, get a lift if there's spares included or let train take strain. I love bringing a new bike home:biggrin:.
