We had hens for a few years, but the third time the fox got them we called it a day. They kill all the hens by biting their heads off and take maybe one or two. The children learned about death at a young age but it really is horrible. I do fancy a goat though (great curry )

That it is, we refer to it as the annual rape of the wallet. We counter the expense by doing self catering, bringing some dried foods with us (pasta rice etc) as we drive down, and having our own kit saves on the hire fee. But there is something about the three valleys skiing which draws us here.
the Combe Vallon run is a cracking one, when i was last there, from Mont du Vallon, and usually very quiet being slightly off the main drag.
I remember the first time I ever went to the 3 Valleys (prolly 25 years ago now) and we were invited to eat at the posh restaurant on the mountain. A bowl of soup was £18 then.
Know that one, it is very good. Everywhere is quiet this week, neither the UK or European schools have broken up yet as Easter is quite late this year.
When the children where in ski school for the day we used to eat on the mountain and share the soup Now they ski with us we go back to where we are staying for lunch. We pick ski in ski out locations. We also try not to eat around 1850, since the Russians arrived the prices there are ridiculous.
Got the brakes off the Shitebird at last, only after the purchase of an impact driver though I now have smooth, fully operational brakes. Can't wait to try 'em, cos they felt pretty bloody good when they were seized... And I've just whipped out the rear wheel to get a tyre fitted. That's it for Shitebird, she's all done for summer
I have spent most of the day feeding twigs and small branches into a mulcher. I don't know if this is the correct English word. It's a "broyeur" in French - a thing that hashes up garden rubbish. The wife bought one this morning. Probably a necessary purchase as the garden rubbish pile is completely out of control. We used to burn it, but I don't think you're allowed to any more, and it has been so long since the last bonfire, that I am suspecting that the bottom of it is now very valuable compost, not to mention the home of various animals. The thing is the size of a garden shed, so I suspect there are more days of mulching on the cards.
Well today I have mananged to sort out all the pics from my iPhone and iPad that I wanted to archive to make space and this evening I have transferred them all plus a heap of other stuff from my home PC to my external drive. It took fucking ages!!
