Just seen you like the aprilia tuono v4 ,ive had one ........fantastic bike mine was the aprc ,sounded like a gp bike flicking it through the box on the quick shifter , they hit 7k revs and go beserk .....to much for me ,thats why i sold it , they lack a bit of low down grunt i thought ,where as the 1098 streetfighter and hyper 1100 sp i have now are all about the torque and give a little away at the peak power , i you fancy one go for it mate.....they are superb :upyeah:

  2. Did you get a go on the KTM? Cracking bike Grommet

  3. Yeh had a 2011 aprc myself in black but mine had the leo vince exhaust, that looks like the sc project in the pic? Mega sounding bike but as you say sometimes they can be all or nothing, I kinda like it :)

The KTM's are ace too though, love the 990SM. Always waned a hyper SP but they felt small to me the 1100's and the KTMs just a bit bigger so I didn't look as Goliath

  4. Think it was a remus exhaust on it Damo , defo not sc project though , yes the hyper sp are quite small but i like that im 5ft 10 so fits me nice , yes had a few ktms , last one was a 990 smt , got rid of that and got a multistrada 1200 60 plate , pretty good bike in all , low down fueling glitches were an arse , i believe the newer ones have got the fueling much better now .

yes Jerry the 950 sm my mate Terry ........jerry ,terry haha , yes great bike really easy to ride , Terrys nearly 60 now and he gets a good ole pace down them country back roads .......i can bearly keep up with him .....with bikes with another 50 bhp or so more ......power can be your enemy sometimes

  5. Any news? did you get it back in time for the hot weather yesterday?

  6. You have no idea how many people I've worked with who are called Tom... :)

The 950 is an excellent bike. Could use another 20bhp, but the chassis is incredible. The new hyper is similar to the KTM, but lighter and much more focused

  7. Hi, no he didn't get chance :-( said he'd do the belts n drain oil Saturday then get stuck in Monday /Tuesday depending how he gets on with a couple of bikes that wr in before mine, fingers crossed it'll be back soon!

  8. How about now?

  9. Got the call tday it's in n ready to go :) pick it up after work tomorrow (goin to be a long day) New belts /plugs /oil n filter so nowt stopping me for 15000 miles lol. Been working away from home last few weeks but should be close to home for a while so will have more time to sort the old engine with Ducati.

  10. Good news :D ............maybe valve adjustments checks would be worthwhile doing now as well? ;-)

  11. Nice one and good to see you'l be back on the road once again - enjoy (I know you don't need me to tell you that... :)). Hopefully you'll get some joy from Ducati as well and would be interested to know how that side of it is going in due course. :upyeah:

  12. Lol down side is....... Away with wife (not bike) this weekend.

  13. He said he would check the engine over so I presume he checked the valve clearance, I'll make that the first question.

  14. Wow! Just got back from first ride, took it steady low revs only set out to go round block and two hours later! Only came back because I was cold, hope it's not raining in the morning :)

  16. Sadly I am now aware of two more cases of failed engines!
One I don't know too much about yet the other I have a lot of detail - again low mileage around 34,000km and just outside warranty - again con rod source of the fairly catestrophic failure, Dealer diagnosis, it dropped a con rod retaining bolt - considerable damage inc cracked crank case.

  17. Ouch. I don't suppose the 15k service strip level is enough to get easy access to said bolts?

  18. Hi fellas,

Just a quick note about this although I don't want to get involved in the legal / consumer stuff (that's for DUK and the chosen dealer)

Firstly to Chris, genuinely sorry to hear of your issues.

I can't speak for other dealers here as I don't see their records but we have sold over 200 MTS1200 (all variants) from here since 2010 and have never seen an engine failure such as this. Admittedly we've seen a couple of porous heads and some of the other documented issues (not going to go elaborate here) but as far as the reliability of the engines go, they've been very robust.

In my experience, Ducati are excellent outside of warranty but it is dependent on much more than just mileage and age. As someone has already pointed out, the circumstances around a component failure must be investigated by the manufacturer before making an informed decision. Again in my experience Ducati are extremely fair in this regard. You may think "of course he's going to say that!" but I could quote genuine examples here.

It is definitely best to have it investigated and take it from there.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.
