Checa leaving ducati

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Imola, Jul 6, 2012.

  1. Checa thinks the WSB Panigale is a big disapointment!!!
TBH It don't surprise me one bit... I see past the Bayliss hype/spin

    Biaggi & Checa market leaders

  2. Jeez Imola, can't you do anything else but regurgitate rumours that you've found on other sites or on Twitter

Oh, and maybe, just maybe Bayliss is a far better rider than Checa ever was or will ever be

  3. Your read all about it in the MCN next week..... Then it will be true!

  4. So Ducati are not in a crisis in racing then ?
Yes Bayliss was a god on the duke and so was Foggy!
Sadly those Days have long gone.... along with the SUPERB trellis frames!

  5. No at all, and that's not what I said or what I am suggesting. The ramblings of all the so called experts & pundits, whether on the web or in hard copy form, are mainly just ramblings and opinions to fill column inches - then proliferated by good folk with nothing better to say, such as yourself........LOL

  6. Yes Dad :upyeah:

  7. Yet again I point you to the World SuperStock standings where the 1199 is running 2nd and 3rd. ONE point behind first place. WORLDSBK.COM | STANDINGS

    In it's first year.

    That is all.

  8. In Motogp yes, they would seem to have certainly lost their way.

In WSBK no, I don't think so and there's nothing to suggest they are. Checa's current position in the championship is down to a dumb tyre choice in Assen and a few self inflicted dnfs, not the 1198. They are following the same path as they always have in WSBK when they've brought out a new model, i.e. race it the year after its released - nothing new there.

  9. Got to agree I think the Panigale won't be the holy grail that we're expecting it hasn't exactly taken racing by storm to date, couple of wins here and there, saying that it's taken BMW. A few years to get it right, wouldn't surprise me if Checa would move on TBH after this season anyway

  10. Not to mention BSB

  11. Did i mention the 1198 ?
I mentioned why Checa will leave ducati because he feels the panigale is a pile of poo!

  12. Just like the so called experts and pundits who have bigged up the panigale as a race bike for folks to post up links on forums with nothing better to say

  13. To be fair, it hasn't competed in that much yet and where it has competed, BSB, for example, it wasn't being ridden by riders who you'd really have expected to set the world alight, whatever they were riding. I'm prepared to keep an open mind on its potential though, until it's out there in WSBK with a good rider on it.

Just to humour you with a response, as I know you want me to...

I haven't 'bigged' up the Panigale as a race bike, nor posted up links to that effect written by experts & pundits, so called, or other wise. I have merely tried to put forward my own constructive, rational opinion....reading your many posts on here, I fear in all honesty, that you can't say the same   oh and

  14. Oh c'mon leave him alone, without Imola who'd be the forums gossip queen?

You do know he hears all about these things down the local beauty parlour dont you? ;)

My stylist told me that Hayden wants to ride it in WSBK anyway, apparently checa is soooooo 'Jel' of hayden and he's been using a different parlour lately to get his highlights done

Rumour has it that Hayden & stacey soloman are set to be the Ducat D'reem team :)

    Imola..... Just kidding mate

  15. Let's wind back to 2003 from memory 1st WSB round at Valencia and the 1st world super stock round, the 999S rolled up with a then relatively unknown rider... #57 Lorenzo Lanzi and heat won the race by around 8 seconds on the 999's first outing, I remembered cheering from the grandstand!

Now the 1199 didn't leap out of the box anywhere like that

  16. No the 1199 didn't and maybe it won't make the grade first year in WSBK next year, but you've cited one example and perhaps the rider also makes a difference.

  17. Dont think you can use BSB as a gauge dor how good or not the Pani is or will be, as much effort time and resources Motorapido put in they are starting from scratch and ditching all the factory work and development on electronics, and where thats not the case in World SS its doing well.

  18. Did you even read my reply? The 1199 has won races in superstock already and currently sits second and third in the championship with one point behind the leader. In its first year

  19. I have little hair Damo..
The pannini lady tells me all the gossip. Lol

Bsb poor results..... All the others dont have problems with the common ecu.
    New to all.
The panigale is great...slip me a nice brown envolope and i will big it up some more. Lol

  20. Imola, the Panigale, hasn't been blowing the competition away in 1st year of Super Stock like the 1098 did back in 2007.

Freak is right in many ways the Panigale has been somewhat disappointing by comparison tbh. The MGP project is in the toilet and the Japanese are laughing big time and it's a big embarrassment too.

Checa I guess would prefer to stay with Ducati, but only if the 'works team' had more involvement and improvements far more quickly than currently. Even if that means kickstarting the factory again.
