Scott Redding should have been given a Ducati ride in my opinion, instead he's got a 15 mph slower, cheap, honda copy... On shear ability alone he deserves at least a Pramac ride... I believe the Big Cat would suit him too.... On his debut Moto gp ride he was superb and considering he's been sold down the river... Very positive too... " Lorenzo take a leaf out of Scottie's book.."
There needs to be a 'yes but when it's fixed' option For me Scott easily has the talent and I said the minute he got the customer honda ride that its a little unfair that other nations riders coming up from Moto2 after such a successful season seem to have been given much better kit. I mean let's be fair, Scott is a big lad so until a weight equaling measure is put in to place he'll always struggle in a straight line, but saying that I have no doubt if he was given a ride such as Bradl, Marquez, Espagaro, Smith etc then he'd be up there battling with them. He did the best he could have done by beating Nicky hayden IMO and that speaks volumes, I only hope somebody takes notice because he doesn't deserve to be overlooked for that next Spanish or Italian rider. Problem you now have is with more coming through like Vinales, Rabat etc Dorna are far more likely to favour them simply because they see Spain and Italy as bigger viewing nations. If he can get a good season under his belt and the Honda engineers like the data they see then perhaps they can swap little Dani out for big scott and give him a repsol
Should Scott have been given the Ducati ride? No he shouldn't. I'd love to see Scott on a competitive bike, but to be honest, he's lucky he's on a bike in the top flight. He didn't win the 125 champs, nor Moto2. The only possible place for him in all honesty would have been the Spies/Hernandez seat. Saying that, I think he's a great racer with a great attitude and great prospects. If he does well this year, then Honda may look his way to replace Pedders, but he was never in a chance of getting the Ducati seat
We are all entitled to our own views but I have to disagree ... If it wasn't for a very untimely and unfortunate accident, Scottie could possibly have won the Moto 2 title... Moto1, he never had a chance there, mainly due to his size.. But on the Marc VDS he rode the wheels off that thing.. I just believe that Crutchlow is only after one thing £..notes. And I truly believe it will be a short lived relationship between him and Ducati.. Also, I fail to see what the likes of Laverty and Hernandez have done to get their rides? Ok in Lavertys case he's not got a good one...
Fully agree there... Trouble is the way of the world and all that they would prob dump "Bradders" first...
I am not doubting the talent, passion and skill of the bloke at all. He was incredibly unlucky at the end of last year not to win the Moto2 title, but look at it from Ducati's point of view. They were presented with a multiple podium finisher in Cruthlow who was about to loose his seat, they'd be foolish to ignore him, flashed a load of cash his way and picked him up. Personally, CC deserved to keep his ride on the Yam, but the whole Rossi thing was never going to fall in his favour, so he therefore had nowhere to go. Remember Ducati wanted him the year before but then their PR man piped up and said, err maybe its better to have an Italian, former champion to boot, on the Italian bike, which resulted in CC being f-ed over. Redding will get his factory ride, but it will be at Honda. Unless he wins the title, this will most likely be Pedders last season on the Repsol. He will have to make way for the new blood. AB nor SB won't get the factory Repsol ride, mainly as their bikes are both still very capable machines and by all accounts its all very happy over there. So whos left? NH - sorry, love the guy, but its unlikely he'll be in the paddock next year, superbikes, or retirement is more likely. AE? Nakagami? MV? Rabat? Maybe, but my money is still on SR in 2015 Lest not forget that Nakagami and Rabat will be wanting a ride in MotoGP next year too and Honda would love a Japanese rider back on one of their bikes
Yes, excellent point.... Or should I say points.. I still don't think CC and Ducati will work out, he will be off it more often than not..
We have all been saying it's pedders last season at Honda for about 3 years now.... it's getting old! He is still finishing on the Rostrum at most GP's which is not bad for a sponsor as long as the other rider is winning. Regards to Scott, I don't really like his attitude, and he is doing well on that bike because it obviously handles very well, I bet if you asked him he wouldn't give up a good handling slow bike for one that is 15MPH faster but randomly throws him on his arse and won't keep a line in a corner. I agree that he has done well to beat Hayden, it's all he can do, if he beats Hayden over the season I imagine we will be seeing Nicky in WSBK next year, although I suspect that Hayden has the financial backing to buy the upgrades needed for his Honda.
All these contracts seem to say that riders will get a 'Factory Bike' doesn't mean that it won't be last years Factory bike...
I just read Crash.Net's interview with him, reckons on Bautista's bike he would have beaten him, that's the thing with Scott, 1 race and he has all the mouth.. I don't doubt he is a good rider, but you don't even hear Marquez talking like that, the last person that came into MotoGp with that attitude was Lorenzo and he smashed his brains out for half a season before he got it sorted.
the only name with alien-kinship seems to be Aleix Esp... all the rest, how incredibly good they may be - seem to float under that level.. led by Bradl, Bautista, Dovi.. and my bet is that Esp will be MM teammate next year.. honda/Repsol .. pritty spanish, no? i'd like to see Bautista on a Duc..; he's riding the way Cal rode first half of the season last year...
AE on the factory Honda....PE on the factory Yamaha.......kiss goodbye to that family Christmas :Rage:
