  1. Hey Goody! Chill out man! This is just idle banter. BTW, as ever, those who are the easiest to wind-up are those who get the most crap thrown at them. Smart arsed comments are the bread and butter of the Lounge area.

    Your Gixxer looks very nice.

Some of my best friends don't even ride Ducatis...

  2. Yeah but it's the wrong colour 

Play nice  you know what it's like waiting for your Ducati brings out the worst in you the frustration while everyone is riding theirs

Oh hang on it's raining jetski out 

  3. Yes but is it red??

  4. Banters all good, Im not aiming to offend nor do I get wound up just defending. But there are people that troll for whatever reason and its not a nice thing. Guess im what u seasoned veterans of the forum world call a `newbie` hey  New to forums, not to bikes.Peace

  5. We don't troll on here well I might 
You will soon know if you upset someone just see it that mostly it's all light hearted banter
    So newbie play nice
    Banter back 

  6. Yer red, If I was asked what colour sir I think id be tempted to give the salesman a slap and ask for some one who knows what he`s talking about-If I could ever afford a Ferrari, it would be red so for a Duc its red. That said Kawasaki are green and so Iv heard some folk say `a green kwak is like a clit, cos every c**t has one. I personally like the green but im partial to race reps

  7. Goody,Its a fair comment that "other" bikes have a specific thread, personally I love the superbike thread and really think it gets spoiled by not sticking to the spirit of the forum. Looking forward to seeing your 1199

  8. Me too... Not that many S ones about the Shire...

  9. Exactly as Ducati intended, my mint, original and completely unmolested 996;

  10. Totally standard - now that is a rarity!

Bet they will be worth more money, paradoxically, than all those which have been "improved". You just need to keep it for about another 20 years.

Nice bike in a bucolic setting!

  11. Nice bike, some gardening required:wink:

  12. Not much of a gardener I am afraid but I suppose given the choice of riding or gardening ........

I don't think I have ever seen one without at least something changed but this is completely standard. Its amusing when you think that most people personalise their bikes with carbon / shiny bits to make them more individual and yet this one is possibly the most individual I have seen! And its a keeper.

  13. Looks nice - how much was the paint job?

  14. Cheers mate,

paint job was done by Larry at illusion racepaint, who did me a very good price for body-work only (not the tank). £450 I think it was. Here's a more recent pic with the red front mudguard in place of the black, and the seat pad fitted.

  15. Well shows how wrong you can be. There I was, about to say "stick with the black mudguard". Evidently not. That looks great. So now I don't know what I think about the mirrors, which was the other question.

  16. I had some mirror covers painted red, but actually preferred the contrast of the black. I think the 999 shape can look a bit bulky in single colour paint-schemes, which is why the race-reps look sharper: the number boards and logos break up the mass of plastic. I didn't want a race-rep look but wanted to emphasise the great lines of the 999 by highlighting some of the details.

Here's a pic with the red mirrors - be interested to know what you think...

    Cheers,
    Dom

  17. Hmm. Tricky one.

I suspect red mirrors are better, but it's not as obvious as all that.

But the more I look at it - I'd plump for the red ones.

It's a really nice looking bike - great paint job. Classy, original but not retro-tedious. That green is quite Bimota-ish.
