  1. Dont worry this isn't a thread about how small a plate I can get away with etc, but it is a thread about modifying one. Does anybody know how the numbers are branded onto the plastic? Are they burnt on or are they some sort of sticker that gets laminated on for example? I only ask as Im thinking about having the 58 changed on my 'show' plate, having it red rather than black
Please feel free to tell me im being an idiot. Ive got broad shoulders :upyeah:

  2. They're laminated normally, so you'll be needing a new plate.

  3. Sorry I should have said that I was going to be a new show plate made up :upyeah:

  4. you are being an idiot....................

  5. Mate the rules around number plates, even if your "show plate" is only on for a short distance on the road:wink:, are deep long and specific, he hee size isnt everything concerning plates.
So the wrong font, format, spacing, colour, etc etc are just inviting you some sort of penalty.........................if you get caught of corse..............not that i would say it would be a top priority more a wrong place wrong time jobbie.

So when /if you do get stopped the powers that be will have all the justification in the world for stopping you as petty as it may seem...............

itll be allright on the bike at the box hill meet though..........

  6. Think show plate makers in the back of bike mags can do any colour font u want mate

  7. When I made them years ago the numbers/letters are put on then laminated I would presume they still make them that way once done we couldn't change them

  8. Thanks for all your help and advise guys :smile:

  9. That's the old (and in my mind, superior) method. The new (cheaper) method is pretty much a laser printed vinyl sticker put over a plastic blank. With the newer method anything is possible, but to my eyes the plate doesn't look as good, as the reflective surface is on top, rather than behind shiny clear plastic. Having said that, I've only seen this method used on car plates so far.

  10. Did you come to spy on us?

  11. I used to enjoy making them and putting them through the mangle
