Stumbled across this part on ebay and it got me doing a bit more research with the servo bypass, seems there is an electronic way to bypass it and then there is also this part that seems to force it open at a guess. Anyone running this, got any thoughts, always up for a bit more noise ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUCATi-10...d=100011&prg=9312&rk=7&rkt=10&sd=151223579055
You disconnect the cables. The valve is sprung open in its rest position so no problems that end. The part shown sits on the servo and fools the bike into thinking the cables are still on by hitting the stops saving the fault light coming on... ran mine like this for 5yrs now but just bought a servo buddy to get rid of the servo altogether. much neater and only a few quid more
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/280869731831?nav=SEARCH took a week to get here and is tiny. Quite a bit of weight saved.
I have the electronic box, small, light and it works a treat I seen quite a few posts on both the old Ducati forum and .ms about that mechanical plate, initially it works but eventually slips and the consensus was its not a good idea. I really don't like it at all and it doesn't get rid of the servo motor. With the electronic box I also heard a few complaints about the level of service from the seller. Personally with mine he was great shipped fast. When it arrived took off the motor plugged in the box and forgot about it. John
Here's mine tucked behind the regulator on an MTS1200 ST. Works a treat and loses unecessary weight. Plug and play when I fitted the decat. Fast delivery and good service with solid reviews.
OK guys, let me try and understand this please, I have had the term slip ons and ECU installed on my 1198s and I though, potentially incorrectly ,that the "new" ecu kept the valve open at all times for free flowing exhaust with slightly more noise. Are you saying that the Ducati upgrade I purchased still opens and closes the valve as per the original standard slip ons, although with more noise due to the straight through slip ons ? So if I purchase one of these "gadgets" it will keep the valve open at all times for weight saving from removing the gubbins and additional sound from keeping the valve open. I assume fueling is not an issue as above a certain rpm the "standard" set up opened the valve anyway? Sorry for the daft questions. Maccaa
Evening Chris, Cut and paste: Are you saying that the Ducati upgrade, Slip ons and ECU, I purchased still opens and closes the valve as per the original standard slip ons, although with more noise due to the straight through slip ons ? Maccaa
The DP ECU disables the lambdas but the EXBV is still operative. You can test by disconnecting the EXBV motor connector (which is behind the motor) and see if you get a EOBD fault on the dash. If you want more info PM me.
As I understood the DP ecu, the valve is still "live" but is held always open when the bike is running unlike when using the oem ecu. Is that not correct Chris ?
Thanks for all the info, but bottom line here is does it make much difference to the noise !?? I don't notice a flat spot tbh so if I spend the money and get more noise I'd be happy, if I spent the money and don't notice a difference I won't !
ChrisW did this for mine. My EXV has been removed in its entirety. Beware the little screw! My bike runs better at low speed and doesnt do that stalling at tickover that it used to do sometimes either.
I never notice a difference in the noise so Spoonz sounds like he's right about the "Racing" ecu that's the one you get with slip ons and a higher flow air filter (which I have). I do know that you get an EOBD light if the servo is unplugged and the valve cycles when the ignition is switched on. When I got mine ECUs couldn't be flashed so it wasn't an option. Now I'd get the ECU reflashed to the "Racing" map and get the valve disabled all in the one go. Got to be a cheaper neater solution John
I might contact the seller for http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/280869731831?nav=SEARCH and see if they would do a group buy discount.
I've one of those plates on my 848... Works a treat.... I'd prefer the motor consigned to the bin though.... May well look into that & move my reg rec to that spot away from the exhausts...
got a reply form the guy who supplies these. He has given me a 15% off voucher if you buy them form his website. They are the same price as on ebay just need to put a code in. If any one wants the code drop me a pm and ill pass it on.
