Pretty sure they are set with the sonic method, guitar tuning app on your mobile or laptop with microphone, not sure of the frequency for your bike though.
Someone should be along to confirm.
I'm still on the old Desmoquatro and just measure.

I'd be interested to find the frequency that the belts have at the correct tension. I have, as a guitar player, metronomes and tuners etc.

 

It does say in the vid 110 htz + or- 5 and is the same for the 998 996R.

i have just done my 998 belts and i had a ducati tech with the genuine bit of kit set the tension hz, at the same time i compared his genuine reading with that of the gates carbon belt app and found it to be quite accurate…..

you do need to check the tension in the correct place with the engine at the correct place too…..
