Would anybody have any recommendations for makers of wooden sheds/workshops?Would prefer tongue and groove construction or shiplap.Thankyou.
make your own. i did it shiplap using 21mm sarkin 11 by 15ft probably saved a couple of grand dead easy and i aint no chippy.
get it made from Welsh Cedar if you budget allows and you want to buy a keeper, bought one once from a place in Snowdonia , sorry cant remember the name
Hi a subject I like. Made my own "workshop" not "just a shed". If you get it made always ADD at least 30% to it`s size as you will need the extra space. Mine is a "L" shape. The main area, then a separate area with made to measure (height) rap around workbench which is the 30% area. Tools always to hand in that area and spares. Wood is good as you can always add shelves easily as you make yourself at home. Good lights and apex roof to store all the "junk" in. Steel braced security in floor as you build it and jobs a good un. Shiplap is the way to go with the outside and a good roof with double felt from the start so you do not have to worry about that for at least 6 years after. Sorry always add a few panels of Kevlar here and there ha ha. sorry do not know any "workshop" builders but please follow the above experienced advice if you can. All the best Ian
we have just replaced a shed that was over 30 years old. It was pressure treated and we threw treatment over it every few years. It failed on a side that when we moved it we could not easily reach. I think we refelted the roof twice. The floor was perfect when we took it down as we mounted it on concrete blocks so there was always air flowing under it. And yes think of the size you need then either double it or at the very least add fifty percent. The old shed wasn't wasted either, it was chopped up into stick for lighting the wood burner. We got the first shed from Sparkford Sawmills but it is in Somerset.
Thank you for that Peter.A few good ideas there.I want to have the shed /workshop as another bike storing/fettling place. My son would like a fridge/television/comfy chairs place to hang ourt in with his mates. The old shed is being dismantled right now-my son is doing it with a friend of his.I am keeping well out of the way.
