Rizoma grips problem

  1. Hi all,

Just bought some rhizomes grips. However when fitted the throttle grip the grip is about 1cm shorter than before! So do I cut the bars down or redrill e hole holding the throttle cam housing or return the grips? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1341853136.004962.jpg

  2. If you redrill the hole for the throttle you will have to do the same for the lever , or there will be a gap , I would cut them down a bit.

  3. I cut my bars back when I fitted mine. I used a line of tape wrapped around the bars to mark the line straight and took a hacksaw to them.

  4. ..also, I think those grips look better when paired up with the Rizoma bar ends. They do a couple of different styles and they are the full width of the new grips.

  5. Yes already ordered the bar ends, should be here tomorrow. Will cut the bars

  6. Dremel off the pin..........if you must use those grips......... Aftermarket bars dont have the holes in anyway. Getting trid of the pins means you can set width of controles and angles.

  7. If i took the pins off are the unit tight enough.... Ie do they clamp hard? Looks like chopping 10mm off is easier

  8. every other throttle, brake and clutch I have done has been fine

  9. Return the grips! Not worth cutting original bars for some aftermarket non-Ducati parts...

  10. Return the grips.

  11. If it was me, I'd be re drilling the clip on/bar. Remember, you ain't gonna be able to stick it back on afterwards.

(TBH if it really were me, I'd be returning them to the vendor and questioning my own taste :p)

  12. Not returning, the ducati ones are ok, but only cheap ones not really high end. The rizoma are very well made and finished.

  13. Get a grip man , these are completely covered when you hold them... you want grippy and able to absorb some vibes... Renthals are still excellent. Rizoma are great for other bits, but their grips are a bit... well, poseur.

  14. Starting to doubt buying these now! I think they look goo but not over the top..... Just blown a fortune on rizoma fluid resovoirs! 3 of them!

  15. Renthal are my choice, medium compound to be more exact.

  16. Ive got some Progrips on my Zx7 and intend getting around the putting some on the Ducati as well. If they are good enough for the race teams, then I guess they are good enough for little old me :upyeah:. IMO Dont start cutting off bits of the bike, what happens when you see another set of bars you like and then, oh...im missing 10mm either side. Different grips will be far cheaper than different clip ons. However, it is your bike and the final choice is yours (you should see what ive done to the zx7 :biggrin:)

  17. stick them on fleabay and let me know when you have listed them................

drill the bars, its easier than trying to get a 100% straight end cut, and if you get the bar ends crocked then the end weights will be on the piss

and drilling holes lightens things so your bike will be that tad faster

  18. you need rizoma end weights they look a lot tidier than what you have

  19. [SUP][/SUP]Hi Ste,

If you do go for cutting the bars down for the grips, don't risk messing about with straight cuts with a hacksaw.

Just use a pair of tube cutters, like what plumbers or instrument pipe fitters use. They will make a clean, square cut with no burrs, you won't even be able to tell it was cut.

I've used them on all manor of tubes, from bike seat posts to tubular frames....not to mention stainless steel instrument tube :upyeah:.

  20. Yep I agree they are on their way! They just weren't in stock
