Corse Performance In Alfreton....anyone Used Them Before?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Tommy B, Apr 15, 2014.

  1. In the process of weighing up if to do the belts on my 998 myself or pass the responsibility onto someone else. (i would like to watch someone else do it before i try myself to be honest)

Ive come across them on the web, however never seen anyone metion them on here or any other forums, anyone had any good or bad experiances?

  2. I'm going to do the belts on my 916 myself. I found a nice little how to and if I remember I will post the link in here when I get home.

  3. Im tempted, and seeing as i plan to keep the bike for the forsiable future i would like to learn, however im sceptical about it without seeing it done, ideal would be to have someone give me a hand.

  4. I always live by the philosophy of 'what one fool can do, another fool can follow'. A quote lifted from the inside cover of a superb calculus book. But a very apt one imho. Except singing. I cant sing for shit.

  5. Very true. Im pretty good with everything else mechanical, just would forever have it in my head how detrimental it could be if i get them wrong!

  6. Just dont get it wrong. After all it can go very bad if you change your wheel incorrectly, but you dont. Its just a couple of belts.

  7. nothing more nothing less. the stressful part is torque and tension. tippex is a bonus. start at crank then cam then tensioner.

  8. Tommy B I notice you live in Derby, if you want any work doing on your bike that you can't do yourself I would recommend Nelly at Cornerspeed based in Mansfield, Neil treats your bike as his own.
Sorry not heard of Corse Performance.

  9. I do my own belts on my 748/853 and can tension them accurately by measurement, I believe the testastreta motor which you have is tensioned by the sonic method, although I would attempt these I would be happier to have them checked afterwards due to my lack of faith in a guitar tuning app being correct on the first attempt.

  10. Another recommendation for Nelly at Cornerspeed. He's in Kirkby in Ashfield. One of the best.

Not used Corse Performance, but understand they merged with John Carr Motorcycles & are based at the John Carr place in Alfreton.

  11. Thanks for the info gents...I've had a quote from nelly a little while ago...was just looking a different options. Corse performance came back with a quote of £150 including the labour and genuine belts...almost £100 cheaper than everyone else (I know cheap isn't always good, hence trying to check how compitant they are)

All said I do fancy having a stab at it myself, just not sure if I can really be bothered this month as already have fork seals to change.

  12. Cheers. I actually downloaded the "Gates - Carbon Drive" app for the frequency check...I believe it's meant to be pretty accurate.

  13. Tommy, if you want to see how/learn how the belts are done, you're more than welcome to bring the bike over to my place and I'll show you. Have the parts off me, cover my time and you're away.
If the fairings, tank and air box are off then it takes no time at all really......
