  1. If id have known Id have said. A bloke at our work had a zxr400 in his garage which had been sitting there for 15 years - my mate bought it for 300 quid - as far as I know its being renovated at the moment.... IMG_20130621_135458.jpg
Dunno if it was a good deal or not but there it is/was....

  2. I've just started one also, we have got it to a point where it's MOT'd and although it looks like crap we are concentrating on the mechanicals first.[IMG]

  5. Haha maybe u can tell me why it now keeps dropping onto 3 cylinders! Investigation needed!

  6. CDI is knackered and you need a new one. Easy!

Carbs was the biggest issue for mine, blocked mains meant that it would only rev so high until they were blown through a million times with compressed air.

There aren't a lot of things it could be:

    Electrical:
    CDI Faulty
    Faulty Coil
    HT Lead damaged

    Carbs:
Blocked up Carb with poor transition from pilot to main in one cylinder
Blocked up fuel galley between carbs not allowing sufficient fuel to reach the bowl.

  7. Personally I hate them in shell suit Kawasaki green and white, they look fantastically understated in plain metallic blue, black or burgundy,

I keep obsessing over them, one went recently on ebay which was a good rideable 20,000 miles completely original bike for just over a grand. there is also a couple of mega low mileage examples around at the moment but they are struggling to find buyers at over £3,000 which says that £2500 is the limit for a perfect one. same sort of value as a 600SS

  9. Had a zxr750j1 brand new in blue then spent shite loads of cash on it incl getting the wheels n graphics done in pink ;). I love zxr's used to work at NCK in coventry a kwak dealer as a boy 1st time I ever hit 150 was on a zxr 750 h1 demo in green.

  10. 1500 miles from new would be £2500 regular bike about £1500

  11. Yeah there is nothing wrong with the zxr400, this one will hopefully be okay once I can figure out the problem, then I can sort the fairing out

  12. Yes there is. It's not a 750 for starters.

  13. Yep Nick highlighted my error. Maybe it was just wishful thinking that it was a RR :Arghh:

  15. 400s are ghey, and that's a fact:p

  16. Ghey imports lol

  17. Well spotted I was about to post exactly the same. The RR had a different exhaust hanger bracket - which was solid alloy without the footpeg mount. Ive got one on my ZXR750L2. You can see it here...

Ive a 1994 ZXR750L2 in my collection. It was my first "big" bike which I bought back in around 1998. I will never ever forget the first time I rode it, the riding position and the induction noise it made when I opened it up was out of this world. I had tons of fun on that bike. Must have written it off at least twice - once was a massive highside at 120mph. But each time I managed to get it working again and back on the road. Performance wise, mine was dynojetted with a race can and it would keep up with my mates fireblade no problem at all. Cracking bikes. Dont think i`ll ever sell mine, its gathering dust in the back of the garage and hasnt been started since the engine overheated after the water pump went. Brakes have all siezed on it now. Another project to sort out when I retire I think!
